For nearly a decade, our platform has been a digital home for millions of Xiaomi fans. We have documented every update, analyzed every piece of hardware, and built tools that empowered users globally. However, as many of you have noticed, we have recently undergone a major transition. Today, we want to share the full story behind why XiaomiTime has become XimiTime and address the unjust legal challenges we are currently facing.
The DMCA Wave and the Shift to XimiTime
In recent weeks, we have been targeted by a continuous series of DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) notices and trademark complaints. These actions were initiated by SNB-REACT, a legal entity representing Xiaomi.
As a platform run by professional journalists and tech enthusiasts, we have always respected intellectual property. To show our goodwill and avoid any potential trademark confusion, we proactively moved our entire infrastructure to a new domain: ximitime.com. We believed that taking this step would allow us to continue our mission of supporting the community while staying within legal boundaries.
Unfortunately, the pressure did not stop there.
The situation has recently taken a deeply troubling turn. The latest legal notices have moved beyond simple trademark disputes. In an attempt to escalate the pressure, our long-standing news platform—a site that has served as an unofficial support pillar for the ecosystem since 2017—is now being labeled as “phishing,” “scamming,” and “fraudulent.”
We want to be very clear: These are not just legal terms; they are direct attacks on our integrity. A DMCA notice is a tool intended to protect copyrights and intellectual property. In this instance, however, it is being utilized as a weapon to silence an independent, decade-old community voice. Labeling a dedicated news and tracking outlet as a “criminal enterprise” is not only factually incorrect but a profound insult to the years of volunteer work and passion we have poured into this project.
A Question of Industry Standards: Why is Xiaomi the Outlier?
In the world of technology journalism, niche-specific media outlets are not just common—they are essential. For decades, independent journalists and enthusiasts have built platforms dedicated to specific ecosystems, providing a level of detail and community support that official corporate channels simply cannot match.
Look at the giants of our industry:
-
9to5Google / 9to5Mac: These platforms have operated for years, using brand names to signal their expertise. Google and Apple recognize them as legitimate press, granting them interview access and review units rather than sending DMCA notices.
-
Windows Latest: A primary source for everything Microsoft. They are respected as a vital part of the Windows ecosystem, despite not being an official Microsoft entity.
-
SamMobile: Perhaps the closest parallel to our work. They have spent over a decade providing firmware trackers and news for Samsung users. Samsung coexists with them because they understand that a dedicated fanbase needs a dedicated news source.
-
MacRumors & Android Authority: Platforms that have built multi-million dollar businesses around tracking and analyzing specific operating systems and hardware.
To Xiaomi: An Open Letter from Your Most Loyal Advocates
We have been here since the beginning. We were here when Xiaomi was a rising star, and we are here now as it leads the global market. Over the years, our team has built tools for Xiaomi users that reached millions on the Play Store. we created platforms like Xiaomiui, HyperOSUpdates, and XiaomiTime—all with one goal: to support the ecosystem we love.
But today, we find ourselves at a crossroads. Despite our years of dedication, we are being met with legal threats and “fraud” allegations. It is time to talk.
We Don’t Want Your Money; We Want Your Blessing
To the leadership at Xiaomi: We are not asking for influencer contracts. We are not asking for a paycheck. Our motivation has always been the products themselves.
-
Our request is simple: Let us do what we love.
-
Our proposal is fair: Set the boundaries. Tell us the “Rules of Engagement.” If there are things you don’t want us to do, tell us directly. We are ready to align with your brand guidelines, provided we can continue to serve the community.
The “Hype Machine” That Never Sleeps
Every day, the world’s largest tech news outlets publish articles based on our research, our trackers, and our insights. We are the source that keeps Xiaomi in the global headlines 24/7.
-
We create the anticipation for HyperOS updates.
-
We explain the technical “magic” behind your hardware to the average user.
-
We build the “hype” that drives sales and brand loyalty.
We do this work voluntarily because we are enthusiasts. By attacking us, you aren’t just hitting a website; you are silencing the very engine that keeps your community excited and informed.
From 2023 to Today: A History of Resilience
In 2023, our specialized tools for Xiaomi users were removed from the Play Store. We didn’t give up. We evolved. We built better trackers, more comprehensive news sites, and stronger communities. We changed our name from XiaomiTime to XimiTime to show our respect for your trademark.
What else must we do to prove that we are allies, not enemies?
A Call for a “Truce” and a “Manual”
Labeling a dedicated media outlet as “fraudulent” is a mistake that hurts the brand’s image as much as it hurts us. Instead of sending legal notices through third-party agencies, send us a guide.
-
Tell us what is off-limits.
-
Give us a path to coexist.
-
Let us continue to show the world the true potential of Xiaomi devices.
We want to wake up every morning excited to report on your next innovation. We want to continue being the bridge between your engineers and your users.
Xiaomi, let’s stop the conflict and start a conversation. The community is watching, and we are ready to cooperate.
The XimiTime Team (Formerly XiaomiTime / Xiaomiui)

We support you. You have done such great job!
Yet another reminder thar corporations are not your friends.
We support you no matter what…. you’re doing a great job though…
i want to phone me smooth to all apps
❤️💪
What you are doing is completely fine. I think Xiaomi would have far fewer followers if it weren’t for you. Keep it up!👍👍👍

This is really sad. This site is much more useful than the official community app. The amount of noise and non-sense comments (points farming) on that site make it practically useless.
Trust me y’all, Xiaomi Global ain’t like Xiaomi in China itself here. For the Chinese one, they welcome everyone here to be the part of the community. But for the Global one, I don’t see if they would do something like that tho, but I just wish that one day, Xiaomi Global has decided to change their mind and welcome everyone to the community as well. Anyway, I support for everything you have done here bro. Keep it up 😎👍
Thank you for your years of selfless dedication to delivering accurate information to people. We know that by sharing technology news and APK applications related to the Xiaomi group, you provide benefits not only to users in our country Turkey but also in many countries around the world. I condemn the Xiaomi brand and the third-party organizations that support it, who disrespectfully leave you in these accusations. I hope your efforts and endeavors yield the desired results and peace is achieved. Regards.

For them, no one outside China matters. If it weren’t so, there wouldn’t be so many regional divisions. In what other major phone brand are there so many regions? They possibly block apps that are banned in a given country, and that’s all. Probably their apparent greatness in recent years has gone to their heads. Time to screw it up… And thank you for your report, it’s fantastic. Greetings and I wish you only better days 👌👍
Go cry in Jerusalem.
You are right, we were gaining a lot by following you. It is unfortunate that it turned out this way.
Xiaomi doesn’t realize the reason why Microsoft became powerful was during the Windows XP era, they actively encouraged people to pirate Windows XP. The end result, they made even more money by becoming the dominant work operating system!
Why can’t Xiaomi be like Microsoft, actively encourage fan sites to prosper and flourish instead of attempting to shut them down?
BTW, I have seen this in mobile games too. I has to do with people who exploit loop holes in the game to “cheat” but not really cheat because it’s not their fault those loop holes exist. What does the game company do? They immediately block or patch those loopholes. Then fewer and fewer people play the game, then the game company makes less and less money.
People “cheat” because they think your game is worth their time, otherwise they wouldn’t be playing the game. If you attempt to shut down this group, who is left to play with the top-up users? Nobody!
