Xiaomi has officially launched the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max in China. The two flagship phones introduce Qualcomm’s new 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series, Leica cameras with dual 200MP sensors, hardware-level privacy displays, rear screens and HyperOS 4.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro starts at CNY 5,999 (about $840), while the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max starts at CNY 6,999 (about $980). Both models are available in China following the launch.
Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max price
The standard Xiaomi 18 Pro comes in four configurations:
- 12GB + 256GB: CNY 5,999 (about $840)
- 12GB + 512GB: CNY 6,999 (about $980)
- 16GB + 512GB: CNY 7,999 (about $1,120)
- 16GB + 1TB: CNY 8,999 (about $1,260)
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max starts higher:
- 12GB + 256GB: CNY 6,999 (about $980)
- 12GB + 512GB: CNY 7,999 (about $1,120)
- 16GB + 512GB: CNY 8,999 (about $1,260)
- 16GB + 1TB: CNY 9,999 (about $1,400)
These are Chinese launch prices and do not represent official pricing for other markets.
Xiaomi has also introduced transparent special editions. The Xiaomi 18 Pro Transparent Special Edition with 16GB and 1TB costs CNY 9,999, while the 18 Pro Max Transparent Special Edition with the same memory configuration costs CNY 10,999.
Two Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chips for the Pro series
The Xiaomi 18 Pro series is the first smartphone lineup to bring Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 platforms to market. The standard 18 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, while the 18 Pro Max gets the higher-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Both platforms use a 2nm process.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro reaches a 5GHz CPU clock speed. Xiaomi says its Snapdragon platform delivers a 35% GPU performance increase while reducing GPU power consumption by 40%. NPU inference performance is also claimed to increase by 80%.
The Pro Max adds a more advanced cooling system with OFFSET PoP packaging and a ring-shaped cold pump. Xiaomi says the setup is designed to maintain full frame rates for one hour during heavy gaming.
7,000mAh and 8,500mAh Jinshajiang batteries
Battery capacity is one of the clearest differences between the two phones.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro has a 7,000mAh battery, while the 18 Pro Max reaches 8,500mAh. Both use Xiaomi’s latest Jinshajiang battery technology, with the 18 Pro using a battery with 32% silicon content. (İT Home)
Both phones also support 100W charging, according to the launch information supplied for the series.
The phones include UWB connectivity and IP66, IP68 and IP69 protection. The 18 Pro also gets Xiaomi’s 7514 linear motor, with the company claiming a 75% increase in transient vibration.
4,000-nit SuperPixel displays add hardware privacy protection
Both models use Xiaomi’s new SuperPixel display technology with the M11 light-emitting system and new green light-emitting materials. Peak brightness reaches 4,000 nits, while the panels support high refresh rates and hardware-level intelligent privacy protection.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro has a 6.4-inch display, while the Pro Max uses a larger 6.9-inch panel. Both have ultra-narrow 0.99mm four-sided bezels.
The privacy system can be assigned to individual applications. Notifications, floating windows and multitasking views can follow the protected area at the pixel level. Xiaomi also provides custom privacy rules and a dedicated AI button for quickly enabling global privacy protection.
Dual 200MP Leica cameras are shared by both models
The Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max use the same core rear camera setup. Both have a 200MP Leica main camera, a 200MP Leica periscope telephoto camera and a 50MP Leica ultra-wide camera. (İT Home)
The main camera uses a 1/1.28-inch sensor, while the 200MP periscope camera uses a 1/1.56-inch sensor. The telephoto camera offers a 75mm-equivalent focal length and 3.2x optical zoom.
It can also focus as close as 12cm, allowing the telephoto camera to be used for macro photography.
Xiaomi has added its Legendary Moment AI imaging system. It can process photos on the phone and in the cloud, with three camera styles available for on-device shooting. AI-assisted shooting can also recommend shooting locations, analyze composition, select filters and guide the photographer’s pose.
The rear screen becomes a larger software platform
Both Xiaomi 18 Pro models feature a rear display integrated into the back panel. Xiaomi has expanded the system with dynamic notifications, AI-generated wallpapers and more than 100 rear-screen application cards at launch. (İT Home)
The AI rear-screen system can generate wallpapers from photos and create content based on pets, idols and cultural themes. Xiaomi also supports AI-generated custom applications for the rear display.
The company says the rear screen already has 3.97 million daily active users, while the rear-screen assistant is used 138 million times per month.
HyperOS 4 comes pre-installed
Both phones ship with HyperOS 4, bringing Xiaomi’s latest software platform to the new flagship hardware. Super Xiao Ai 2.0 is also included, using Xiaomi’s MiMo large model. The assistant supports memory, autonomous reasoning and complex task execution. Xiaomi also says it can work across devices, allowing tablets and PCs to process data from a connected smartphone.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro series has been launched in China, while a global release is planned for later in 2026. Regional configurations, pricing and availability may differ from the Chinese models.
