Android November 2026 security update fixes 216 critical vulnerabilities

Google has published its November 2026 Android Security Bulletin, addressing a large number of security vulnerabilities across the Android operating system. The update covers critical and high-severity flaws affecting Android Framework, System, Android Runtime, Linux Kernel, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and several hardware-related components.

One of the most important aspects of this month’s update is the correction of critical vulnerabilities that could allow attackers to execute arbitrary code remotely, escalate system privileges, or access sensitive information without requiring additional user interaction.

Critical Remote Code Execution Vulnerabilities

The most serious issue addressed in the November security update is a critical vulnerability in the Android Framework.

CVE-2026-58868 is classified as a critical Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability. According to Google’s bulletin, successful exploitation could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code remotely without requiring additional execution privileges or user interaction.

This is particularly important because vulnerabilities of this nature can potentially be exploited without the victim opening a suspicious application or granting additional permissions.

Two additional critical RCE vulnerabilities were also addressed in the Android System component:

  • CVE-2026-58876
  • CVE-2026-58936

Both vulnerabilities are classified as critical and could enable remote code execution without additional privileges or user interaction.

These fixes represent some of the most important security improvements included in the November update.

Android Framework and System Privilege Escalation Fixes

The November bulletin contains an extensive collection of Elevation of Privilege (EoP) vulnerabilities affecting Android Framework and System components.

These vulnerabilities could potentially allow malicious applications or attackers who have already gained limited access to a device to obtain higher system privileges.

Several critical System vulnerabilities were addressed, including:

  • CVE-2026-55275
  • CVE-2026-55283
  • CVE-2026-58984

In addition, numerous high-severity vulnerabilities were fixed across Framework and System.

These improvements strengthen Android’s permission boundaries and help prevent unauthorized access to protected system resources.

Bluetooth and Kernel Security Improvements

Another particularly important part of the November update is the collection of Linux Kernel security fixes.

Google addressed several critical vulnerabilities affecting low-level system components, including Bluetooth, Protected Kernel-based Virtual Machine (pKVM), and HID.

Notable vulnerabilities include:

  • CVE-2026-53256: Critical privilege escalation vulnerability affecting Bluetooth.
  • CVE-2026-89774: Critical privilege escalation vulnerability affecting Bluetooth.
  • CVE-2026-59044: Critical privilege escalation vulnerability affecting pKVM.
  • CVE-2026-59045: Critical privilege escalation vulnerability affecting pKVM.
  • CVE-2026-80604: Critical privilege escalation vulnerability affecting HID.
  • CVE-2026-59048: Critical information disclosure vulnerability affecting pKVM.

These fixes are particularly significant because Kernel vulnerabilities can affect fundamental security mechanisms responsible for isolating applications, managing hardware access, and protecting sensitive system operations.

Wi-Fi, Networking and TLS Vulnerabilities

The update also addresses security issues affecting Android’s networking infrastructure.

Several vulnerabilities were fixed in the Linux Kernel networking stack, including issues involving Transport Layer Security (TLS).

Google also lists multiple Wi-Fi vulnerabilities under its Google Play system update components.

These fixes help strengthen the security of wireless connectivity, network communication, and the underlying mechanisms used to protect data transmitted between devices and services.

Information Disclosure and Denial-of-Service Fixes

Beyond remote code execution and privilege escalation, the November security update addresses numerous Information Disclosure (ID) and Denial-of-Service (DoS) vulnerabilities.

Information disclosure vulnerabilities can expose sensitive system information that should not be accessible to unauthorized applications or attackers.

Meanwhile, DoS vulnerabilities can potentially cause system services or affected components to become unavailable, disrupting normal device operation.

Android Runtime, Framework, System, and other platform components received fixes for these vulnerability categories.

Google Play System Updates Also Receive Security Fixes

Some of the vulnerabilities included in the November bulletin are addressed through Project Mainline components rather than traditional full system firmware updates.

Affected components include:

  • Media Codecs
  • Media Framework
  • MediaProvider
  • Telephonycore
  • Wi-Fi
  • Profiling

This is important because Android can deliver certain security improvements through Google Play system updates independently of a complete manufacturer firmware release.

Why Is the November 2026 Security Update Important?

The November update is particularly significant because it addresses multiple critical vulnerabilities across both high-level Android components and low-level Kernel infrastructure.

The most notable improvements include:

  • Fixes for critical remote code execution vulnerabilities that do not require user interaction.
  • Multiple critical privilege escalation fixes in Android System.
  • Critical Bluetooth security vulnerabilities.
  • Kernel-level security improvements involving pKVM and HID.
  • Fixes for information disclosure and denial-of-service vulnerabilities.
  • Additional security improvements for Wi-Fi, media processing, and telephony components.

Google states that devices running security patch level 2026-11-05 or later address all vulnerabilities listed in the November bulletin.
