The standard Xiaomi 18 has appeared in a new leak, giving us an early look at its rear camera design. Newly leaked protective case images show a camera island that could mark another design change for Xiaomi’s flagship lineup. The phone is also known to feature a 7,200mAh battery, 100W charging and a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor.
Interestingly, Xiaomi appears to be returning to an older camera design language. The company used a similar camera layout across several generations, starting with the Xiaomi 13 series, before changing its approach with the Xiaomi 17 lineup.
Xiaomi 18 Case Leak Shows a Return to the Old Camera Design
The leaked images show black and white protective cases for the standard Xiaomi 18. Their camera cutouts feature two large circular openings alongside a smaller pill-shaped section and an additional opening for the flash.
This layout suggests that Xiaomi could be moving away from the camera island design introduced with the Xiaomi 17 series. The new arrangement appears closer to the camera styling used on earlier Xiaomi flagship models.
However, the protective case does not confirm the final appearance of the phone. Xiaomi has not officially revealed the Xiaomi 18’s design.
Xiaomi 18 Specifications: 7,200mAh Battery and 200MP Cameras
The latest specifications leak suggests that the Xiaomi 18 will receive several major hardware upgrades. Despite being the standard model, it could feature a large battery and a powerful triple-camera system.
Reported specifications include:
- Display: 6.4-inch 1.5K flat display.
- Processor: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, reportedly manufactured using a 3nm process.
- Main camera: 200MP.
- Telephoto camera: 200MP.
- Ultra-wide camera: 50MP.
- Battery: 7,200mAh.
- Wired charging: 100W.
The combination of a 7,200mAh battery and 100W charging would make the standard Xiaomi 18 particularly interesting for users who prefer smaller flagship phones without sacrificing battery capacity.
The reported 6.4-inch flat display also suggests that Xiaomi will continue offering a relatively compact flagship alongside its larger Pro models.
Xiaomi 18 and Xiaomi 18 Pro Follow Apple’s Launch Strategy
Another interesting detail concerns Xiaomi’s launch schedule. According to earlier reports, the company planned to introduce the Xiaomi 18 Pro Series first, followed by the standard Xiaomi 18 at a later date. This approach would be similar to Apple’s launch strategy, where Pro models and standard iPhones can receive different launch windows. The Xiaomi 18 Pro Series is expected to make its global debut on November 17, 2026. Meanwhile, the standard Xiaomi 18 is currently expected to launch around December, although Xiaomi has not confirmed this schedule.
Global Xiaomi 18 Model Appears in Certification Information
The Xiaomi 18 has also been linked to regulatory and model-number information. The reported MIIT certification number is 26122PN61G, while the global model number is listed as M261DB. These identifiers suggest that Xiaomi is preparing the device for multiple markets. However, certification information alone does not confirm its final regional availability or launch date.
With the Xiaomi 18 Pro Series arriving first, the standard model could follow just weeks later. More details about its camera system, global availability and final design are still expected.
