Xiaomi 18 Pro could bring a 2K screen with hidden-view tech

Xiaomi may be preparing a major display and privacy upgrade for its next-generation flagship phone. According to a new post by blogger @DigitalChatStation, a certain manufacturer’s upcoming Pro-series flagship is currently testing a new-generation 2K ultra-high-definition display with advanced privacy protection technology. While the brand was not directly named, many users in the comments believe the device could be the Xiaomi 18 Pro.

2K display with hardware and software privacy protection

The latest report suggests that this upcoming flagship is testing a 2K ultra-high-definition screen combined with a new privacy protection system. More importantly, the privacy feature is said to be supported at both the hardware and software level, which means it may not be limited to a simple software filter.

A hardware-backed privacy display could reduce screen visibility from side angles, helping protect sensitive content from people nearby. On the software side, Xiaomi could add deeper controls for apps, notifications, passwords, PIN entry, and lock screen information. If this leak is accurate, the Xiaomi 18 Pro could become one of Xiaomi’s most privacy-focused flagship phones yet.

Xiaomi 18 series may also keep the rear screen

Blogger @SmartPikachu recently claimed that the Xiaomi 18 series is tentatively scheduled for a September launch and will retain the same rear-screen strategy. This means Xiaomi may continue the secondary display design introduced with the Xiaomi 17 Pro series.

The same leak also mentions a custom 200MP LoFIC main camera, which could improve dynamic range and high-contrast photography. Combined with a rear screen, this could make rear-camera selfies, video previews, and content creation more practical. This shows that Xiaomi may be upgrading both the front and rear display experience, instead of focusing only on raw camera or chipset improvements.

Privacy display could become a new flagship trend

The leak also comes at a time when other major brands are exploring similar privacy-focused display features. Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra is reported to include a built-in privacy feature designed to stop nearby people from seeing the screen clearly. The system is said to offer custom privacy settings for apps, notification pop-ups, passwords, PINs, unlock patterns, lock screen content, and secure folders. Samsung is also reportedly testing similar technology on a future 6.47-inch mid-size flagship model. This suggests that privacy displays may become one of the next major premium smartphone trends.

For Xiaomi, adding this feature to the Xiaomi 18 Pro would make sense. The company already competes strongly in performance, battery, camera hardware, and charging technology. A hardware-level privacy display would give the Xiaomi 18 Pro another premium feature that users can immediately understand in daily life.
