MediaTek Reports 12.6% Drop in Net Profit for Q2 2026

MediaTek has released its financial results for the second quarter of 2026, showing mixed performance amid a slight revenue increase.

Financial Highlights for Q2 2026

The company recorded consolidated revenue of 152.18 billion New Taiwan Dollars (approximately 31.79 billion Chinese Yuan), marking a 2.0% increase from the previous quarter and a 1.2% year-over-year rise.

However, the gross margin declined slightly by 0.1 percentage points quarter-over-quarter to 46.2%, also down 2.9 percentage points from the same period last year. Operating profit decreased by 0.1% compared to the previous quarter, standing at 22.87 billion New Taiwan Dollars (about 4.78 billion Chinese Yuan), which is a 22.2% drop year-over-year.

The net profit attributable to shareholders fell 12.6% year-over-year to 24.34 billion New Taiwan Dollars (roughly 5.08 billion Chinese Yuan), exceeding the earlier estimate of 22.43 billion New Taiwan Dollars. Earnings per share were reported at 15.28 New Taiwan Dollars (around 3.2 Chinese Yuan).

Implications and Outlook

The results reveal that although MediaTek managed to increase revenue slightly, profitability metrics declined substantially compared to the previous year. The reduced gross margin and lower operating profit suggest ongoing cost pressures or competitive challenges.

Investors and industry watchers will be analyzing how MediaTek plans to address these profitability concerns in upcoming quarters.
