REDMI explains Snapdragon 8 Elite choice on latest flagships

Xiaomi REDMI has addressed user questions about the chipset selection in the REDMI K100 and the microphone setup in REDMI Clip Neo via an official Weibo post dated October 30. The company confirmed that the REDMI K100 uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite, not the latest generation platform, while emphasizing its strong performance in daily use and gaming.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 4 Delivers Stable Performance with HyperOS 4

Though Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite is no longer the newest chip, Xiaomi REDMI states it remains a high-performance platform. With the new Xiaomi HyperOS 4, the K100 runs smoothly and efficiently in routine tasks and supports mainstream games well. Third-party benchmarks reportedly show that in some titles, the K100’s gaming performance matches or closely approaches the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (6th Gen Snapdragon 8 Superchip), with minor differences mostly limited to power consumption.

Dedicated AI Display Booster Enhances Gaming on K100

A key distinction for the standard REDMI K100 model is its independent AI display chip D2. This dedicated graphics chip enables the phone to support over 100 games with 165Hz frame interpolation. This means many games limited to 60 frames per second can be played at higher frame rates for a smoother experience. For games that natively support high fps, this AI display chip helps reduce power use, lowering device temperature and improving battery life during gaming.
