The REDMI K100 is essentially a rebranded version of the REDMI K90 Ultra, for the Chinese market only. Unlike the K90 Ultra, the REDMI K100 drops the cooling fan and retains a large 10,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging support. This marks the second REDMI K-series device that will not receive a global release after the REDMI K50.
Shared Firmware and Hardware Details
The two devices share the same firmware base, indicating close software compatibility. The K100 carries the codename “yanan,” while the firmware and hardware identity link back to the K90 Ultra’s codename “warsaw_y.” This overlap means the update process and system optimizations should be very similar between the models.
Hardware details from leaks confirm that the device supports a Snapdragon 8 Elite (Gen 4) chipset. The display is reportedly a flat 1.5K+ panel with an ultra-high refresh rate, and the phone also carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The model number associated with the K100 appears as M786BC, consistent with internal REDMI numbering.
The internal testing configuration shows the device uses the OVX8000 main camera which same as REDMI K90 Ultra and Xiaomi 17T with OV08F10 and OV20B40 aux and front camera sensors. The product model number is listed as M786BC. The test setup indicates no active fan control, and the device itself may lack a cooling fan altogether. It has SM8750 SoC which is Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Key Differences and Market Scope
While the REDMI K90 Ultra includes an active cooling fan system, the K100 omits this feature. Despite sharing the large 10,000mAh battery capacity, the K100 maintains fast charging at 100W. Additionally, the device features a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for biometric security.
At present, the REDMI K100 is confirmed as a China-only release. Its exclusion from the global market follows the precedent set by the REDMI K50, which also did not get an international launch despite originating as a K-series base model. Xiaomi has not announced plans to bring the K100 outside China.
Implications for Firmware and Updates
Because of the shared firmware base with the REDMI K90 Ultra, software updates—including the rollout of Xiaomi HyperOS—are expected to same between both devices.
