Xiaomi has officially unveiled the new “Versatile Rear Screen” feature on the Xiaomi 18 Pro series ahead of its launch this month. The updated rear screen moves beyond just displaying wallpapers to now supporting AI-generated applications. Xiaomi 18 Pro series will out also for Global.
AI-Driven Applications on the Rear Screen
The feature showcases a variety of AI-assisted apps designed for quick interactions on the rear screen. These include a boiled egg timer, hydration reminders, Pomodoro clock, English vocabulary learning, and recipe recommendations. The enhancements aim to expand daily utility directly on the phone’s secondary display.
Significant Upgrade to Rear Screen Experience
Last year’s “Miaoxiang” rear screen experience was popular, with over four million daily uses of rear screen app cards and more than 3.5 million wallpaper changes in a single day. Xiaomi’s Group Partner and President Lu Weibing noted that this year’s version uses advanced technology to greatly enrich the rear display’s capabilities, responding to diverse user needs.
Broader Improvements in Xiaomi 18 Pro
The Xiaomi 18 Pro series marks the largest upgrade in the brand’s numeric lineup so far, improving performance, imaging, battery life, and AI features overall. The new rear screen is part of these broader enhancements scheduled for release this month.
