A Xiaomi smartphone with model number M261DB passed the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s wireless certification on September 23. This device is believed to be the Xiaomi 18 Standard Edition. Prior to the Xiaomi 18 Pro series launch event on the same day, Xiaomi Group co-founder and president Lu Weibing confirmed on Weibo that the Xiaomi 18 Standard Edition would be released separately at a later date.
Expected Features for Xiaomi 18 Standard Edition
According to a leak disclosed from XimiTime, the Xiaomi 18 Pro model will debut first, with the Xiaomi 18 slated for December. The entire series is expected to feature Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 2nm chipset, a new upgraded display, dual 200 MP cameras, and a large battery.
Additional rumors indicate the Xiaomi 18 Standard Edition will run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor and include a 200 MP sensor, complemented by a 7200mAh battery.
Comparison with Xiaomi 18 Pro
The Xiaomi 18 Pro premiered with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Extreme processor built on an 2nm process. It supports a large 7000mAh battery and a Leica-certified triple camera system covering all focal lengths. The Pro model features a 6.4-inch display using a new M11 panel, reaching a peak brightness of 4000 nits and offering hardware-level privacy protection. The Standard Edition may improve on battery capacity while maintaining the flagship-grade camera and chipset specs. However, official details remain unconfirmed.
