What to expect from Xiaomi 18 Pro global pricing?

Xiaomi is preparing for new Xiaomi lineup for the 2026-2027 cycle. According to leaks since this year, the Xiaomi 18 Ultra has been officially cancelled. Instead, the company is doubling down on the Xiaomi 18 Pro and introducing a Xiaomi 18 Pro Max to fill the ultra-premium void in the global market.

Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming Xiaomi 18 series, from launch dates and groundbreaking camera specs to expected global pricing amidst the ongoing chip crisis.

A Split Launch Timeline and Regional Exclusives

Xiaomi is changing its traditional release cadence. The company will split the launch of the Xiaomi 18 series, prioritizing its premium tier first:

  • September 2026: The Xiaomi 18 Pro, Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, and the Xiaomi 18 Fold will take the stage. Xiaomi 18 Fold is already out few days ago.
  • December 2026 – Early 2027: The standard Xiaomi 18 will arrive a few months later, likely targeting the holiday season or early Q1 2027.

Internal codenames have also surfaced, confirming this segmented approach. The standard Xiaomi 18 is codenamed “Venice”, while the premium Pro and Pro Max models are being developed under the codenames “Hongkong” and “Madrid”.

Regional availability will vary. While most global regions will receive the entire lineup, India will only get the Pro variants; the standard Xiaomi 18 is currently not planned for the Indian market.

The Return of a Fan Favorite: Transparent Edition

In a thrilling move for long-time Xiaomi fans, the Transparent Edition design is making a comeback. Last seen in all its glory on the legendary Mi 10 Ultra (and previously popularized by the Mi 8 and Mi 9), this see-through aesthetic will be available as an exclusive variant for the new Pro series, showcasing the internal engineering marvels of the device.

Adding to the hardware changes, the Xiaomi 18 series will feature a dedicated AI Button, pointing toward deep system-level integration of generative AI features, likely powered by a heavily upgraded HyperOS.

Power and Optics: Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 Pro & Dual 200MP Sensors

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will be an absolute powerhouse, driven by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series (specifically the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 Pro).

However, the biggest leap forward is in the camera department. The Xiaomi 18 Pro series will debut with SmartSens’ new 200MP 1/1.28″ LOFIC 3.0 sensors. In a bold move, this massive sensor won’t just be used for the Main Camera—the system will actually feature a second 200MP camera (for periscope telephoto duties), and new bigger ultra-wide camera. making it one of the most formidable camera modules ever put on a smartphone.

Global Pricing Predictions

With the cancellation of the Ultra model and the ongoing semiconductor supply chain pressures, Xiaomi is repositioning the Pro and Pro Max models directly against Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro and the rumored iPhone Duo. The advanced Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 Pro chip and the costly dual-200MP SmartSens hardware will push prices into the ultra-premium territory.

Here are the expected global starting prices:

  • Xiaomi 18 Pro: $1,249 – $1,349 (Positioned to directly combat the iPhone 18 Pro)
  • Xiaomi 18 Pro Max: $1,399 – $1,499 (Filling the gap left by the cancelled 18 Ultra)
  • Xiaomi 18 (Standard): $899 – $999 (Arriving later in late 2026/early 2027)

By shifting the Ultra’s resources to the Pro Max and bringing back beloved designs like the Transparent Edition, Xiaomi is clearly aiming to solidify its status in the global ultra-premium market, even if it means consumers will have to pay Apple-tier prices.
