Xiaomi Showcases YU7 EV Crossover to Global Leaders

In a massive display of Xiaomi’s expanding global influence, founder and CEO Lei Jun recently hosted two significant diplomatic meetings at Xiaomi Headquarters. On April 13, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez toured the Xiaomi Home flagship store, getting hands-on experience with the company’s latest premium hardware. This visit coincided with Lei Jun’s meeting with His Highness Crown Prince Khalid of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, marking a pivotal moment for Xiaomi’s international strategic partnerships.

The Tech Showcased

During the visit, Prime Minister Sánchez was given a firsthand demonstration of Xiaomi’s flagship capabilities. The focal points of the tour were the ultimate camera flagship, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and Xiaomi’s expanding automotive lineup.

  • Xiaomi 17 Ultra Imaging Prowess: The Spanish Prime Minister tested the Xiaomi 17 Ultra on-site, demonstrating the device’s exceptional camera system by taking photos for accompanying reporters. The visit was capped off with a high-profile selfie featuring Sánchez and Lei Jun. The prominent camera module on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra continues to push the boundaries of mobile photography, proving its worth on the world stage.

  • YU7 EV Crossover & Smart Cabin: Sánchez also showed profound interest in Xiaomi’s automotive engineering. He test-drove the YU7, Xiaomi’s highly anticipated EV Crossover. During the demonstration, the Prime Minister specifically inquired about the vehicle’s performance metrics, battery life, and the sophisticated phone-car connectivity. He highly praised the YU7’s immersive panoramic screen. The seamless connectivity between the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and the YU7 is driven entirely by Xiaomi HyperConnect, allowing the smartphone and the EV to act as a unified, intelligent system.

Global Expansion

These high-level meetings signal a massive push for Xiaomi’s global market presence. According to Lei Jun’s shared reports, the UAE Crown Prince emphasized that the UAE is an important strategic partner for China in the Middle East and North Africa. Both nations have achieved fruitful cooperation, and these meetings are set to further deepen investments in technology, renewable energy, and smart ecosystem expansion. For European markets like Spain, the Prime Minister’s direct engagement with the YU7 EV Crossover and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra strongly hints at Xiaomi’s aggressive road map for introducing its “Human x Car x Home” ecosystem globally.

If Xiaomi starts building cars in Spain (second European car producer, just behind Germany)… they’ll certainly have a huge competitive advantage, especially since energy in Spain is much cheaper than in Germany, and salaries aren’t as high. There are cheaper countries to build out there, but Spain has tons of large ports, decent rail system, and a huge car manufacturing ecosystem, so… Xiaomi, do take that into consideration!

Additionally, Xiaomi has a good reputation in Spain (it’s the third largest smartphone brand there). It would be larger if Xiaomi fixed their memory handling issues (no matter how much free memory you have, when you go from one app to the other and back, memory gets freed and the program has to start reloading everything, losing all unsaved progress, and using tons more energy). Hopefully they’ll fix it on HyperOS 4, since it seems to still be a huge issue on HyperOS 3.1.
