Xiaomi ends update support for devices including Xiaomi 12 Lite

Xiaomi has officially stopped software and firmware updates, including security patches, for several older models, including the Xiaomi 12S Pro and REDMI Note 12R. This was confirmed on August 17 when Xiaomi’s Security Center updated the list of devices reaching the end of software maintenance.

Details of the Software Support Termination

The affected devices will no longer receive regular software or firmware updates. This includes security updates and fixes. Xiaomi may also stop responding to security vulnerability reports for these models. However, the company has stated it could still issue critical security patches if severe vulnerabilities emerge after the support ends.

Among the newly added models on the termination list are:

  • Xiaomi 12 Lite – EOL With HyperOS 1
  • Xiaomi 12S Pro – EOL With HyperOS 3
  • REDMI Note 12R – EOL with HyperOS 2.2

Implications for Owners

Users of these models should expect no further updates or bug fixes. While the devices will continue to operate, the lack of updates may raise security and compatibility concerns over time. The move reflects Xiaomi’s typical software lifecycle approach, where flagship and mid-range models receive around two years of updates before maintenance ends.

Context in Xiaomi’s Software Strategy

This update follows Xiaomi’s earlier announcements where Mi Pilot devices and other Xiaomi and REDMI models were phased out from maintenance, including last generation flagships and tablets. It also aligns with the company’s ongoing transition from MIUI-based support toward Xiaomi HyperOS for newer models.
