Xiaomi Hosts Historic First Employee Sports Meet: Corporate Culture

For the first time in its 16-year history, Xiaomi Group has officially kicked off its inaugural employee sports meet. Founded in April 2010, the tech giant is taking a massive step in prioritizing employee well-being, with CEO Lei Jun delivering a powerful speech to mark the momentous occasion.

The Event & Activities

The sports meet is far more than a standard corporate gathering; it is a comprehensive athletic carnival designed for the modern tech worker. The competition features a wide array of physical events, ranging from traditional 100-meter and 200-meter sprints and badminton to unique team-building exercises like land dragon boat racing. Furthermore, Xiaomi integrated modern fitness tracking into the mix, featuring VBT (Velocity-Based Training) strength tests and smart ab wheel challenges.

As highlighted by the official @XiaomiAdministration Weibo account, the event also caters to mindfulness and mental health. A dedicated yoga experience area allowed employees to step away from the fast-paced development environment, stretch their bodies and minds, and find balance—proving that the event is about both high-energy competition and essential leisure.

Corporate Scale

The scale of this inaugural event is massive. While the main stadium venue is located in Beijing, simultaneous sports events were successfully coordinated across major Xiaomi regional hubs, including Wuhan, Nanjing, Shenzhen, and Shanghai. It is estimated that over 3,000 employees participated nationwide.

Lei Jun’s message to the company was clear and straightforward: the primary goal of this monumental event is to remind all Xiaomi personnel to actively value sports and take meticulous care of their physical and mental health.
