Xiaomi Robot Shown Working in Factory, “Supervisor” Robot Makes Cool Gesture

Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun shared a video from the company’s robot team showing a white Xiaomi robot folding a portable storage box inside a factory. After neatly folding the box and pushing it aside, the video switches to a selfie angle, revealing that the “supervisor” overseeing the work is also a Xiaomi robot.

Interestingly, the supervisor robot has a black design and even makes a casual hand gesture toward the camera. This highlights Xiaomi’s ongoing efforts to deploy robots not only for manual tasks but also for monitoring and supervision roles in manufacturing.

Progress of Xiaomi Robot Internship Program

Earlier reports from Xiaomi reveal that after one quarter of training, the robot working on the self-tapping nut insertion station has achieved a double-sided operation success rate of 98%. Its performance is only 1% behind human workers, marking its formal “graduation” from internship.

Additionally, Xiaomi’s robots have started new roles in the logistics area of the final assembly workshop. Tasks such as sorting dashboard side panels and folding recycling bins have reached about a 90% success rate.

This development shows Xiaomi’s stepwise approach to automation in manufacturing, gradually expanding robot tasks and improving precision to closely match human performance.
