Xiaomi MIX Fold 5 gets certified with UWB and HyperOS 4

Xiaomi’s next ultra-premium foldable phone is moving closer to launch. According to blogger Digital Chat Station, a mysterious Xiaomi device with the model number 2608BPX34C has received network access certification in China. The device is expected to be the Xiaomi MIX Fold 5, Xiaomi’s first ultra-wide book-style foldable phone. The certification confirms support for the independent N79 band and UWB ultra-wideband technology, while previous leaks point to Xiaomi HyperOS 4, XRING O3, Leica imaging, and a price in the ten-thousand-yuan range.

MIX Fold 5 receives network access certification

The biggest update in this report is that the Xiaomi MIX Fold 5 is no longer only appearing in leaks and internal code findings. The device has now reportedly entered China’s network access certification system under the model number 2608BPX34C.

Digital Chat Station described the device as Xiaomi’s highest-end new phone this year, which suggests that the MIX Fold 5 may sit above traditional flagship models in Xiaomi’s 2026 lineup. The device is expected to become Xiaomi’s first ultra-wide foldable phone, focusing on a larger productivity-oriented screen, premium imaging, and next-generation connectivity.

According to the certification information, the device supports: The N79 band is especially important for China’s 5G network environment, while UWB support could improve precise device positioning, smart car interactions, smart home control, and Xiaomi HyperConnect ecosystem features.

Seamless hinge and side fingerprint sensor

According to blogger Smart Pikachu, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 5 will feature a horizontal camera module design, a self-developed seamless hinge, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The seamless hinge is expected to be one of the most important hardware upgrades. Foldable phones depend heavily on hinge strength, display crease control, durability, and long-term opening stability. A Xiaomi-developed hinge would allow the company to optimize the folding mechanism more closely with the device’s display structure and body design.

The side-mounted fingerprint sensor also fits the foldable form factor. On book-style foldables, side fingerprint unlocking is often more practical because it works whether the phone is folded or unfolded. This is a hardware certification and product leak, not a software bug report. The currently known device information is listed below:

XimiTime previously revealed that the lhasa device belongs to Xiaomi’s internal Q18 foldable platform and is linked to the self-developed XRING O3 chipset. XimiTime also uncovered early XRING O3 clock details, making this new certification an important confirmation that the device is moving forward.

HyperOS 4 and XRING O3 could define the experience

Previous reports indicated that the Xiaomi MIX Fold 5 may be the first phone to feature Xiaomi HyperOS 4. The new software generation is expected to bring AI-powered system applications with deeper integration between apps, multitasking, and productivity tools.

The device is also expected to use Xiaomi’s self-developed XRING O3 chipset, with performance reportedly targeting Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform. If accurate, this would make the MIX Fold 5 one of Xiaomi’s most important products from both a hardware and software strategy perspective.

A foldable device powered by XRING O3 and HyperOS 4 could give Xiaomi more control over:

This would make the MIX Fold 5 more than a normal foldable refresh. It may become Xiaomi’s showcase product for HyperOS 4, XRING O3, Leica imaging, and AI-powered productivity.

Xiaomi’s most expensive foldable yet

The Xiaomi MIX Fold 5 is reportedly priced in the ten-thousand-yuan range, meaning it may cost more than 10,000 yuan, or approximately $1,480 and above. The device is expected to be introduced in China only.

For comparison, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 was released in July 2024 with a starting price of 8,999 yuan, approximately $1,332. That phone featured a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform, a 7.98-inch inner screen, a 6.56-inch outer screen, a Leica Summilux quad-camera system, and a 5100mAh Xiaomi Jinshajiang battery.

The MIX Fold 5 appears to move into a higher category. With UWB, a self-developed seamless hinge, XRING O3, HyperOS 4, AI-powered apps, and a more premium foldable structure, Xiaomi may be preparing its most advanced and expensive foldable phone so far.
