Xiaomi has confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will be among the first phones to use Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 platform, while also confirming a global launch later this year. The announcement came during Xiaomi’s presentation ahead of the Chinese launch on September 23.
Qualcomm officially introduced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 at Snapdragon Summit 2026 in Hawaii on September 22. Xiaomi’s presentation identifies the Xiaomi 18 Pro as the first phone to feature the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Brings Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 First
The slide shown by Xiaomi executive Adam Zeng, SVP and President of Xiaomi’s International Business Department, lists the Xiaomi 18 Pro as the first device to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Series.
The Chinese launch is scheduled for September 23, 2026, in Beijing. This places Xiaomi among the first manufacturers to bring Qualcomm’s new 2nm flagship platform to market.
Qualcomm says the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 can exceed 5.0GHz peak clock speeds, with a claimed 13% performance increase, 37% better energy efficiency and 15% faster responsiveness. The platform uses Qualcomm’s custom Oryon CPU, Adreno GPU and Hexagon NPU.
The new chips are also built using a 2nm process and introduce Qualcomm’s Adreno Neural Fusion technology for AI-assisted graphics rendering.
The Global Xiaomi 18 Pro Launch Is Finally Confirmed

Under the launch information, Xiaomi lists:
- China launch: September 23, 2026, Beijing
- Global launch: Coming this year
This confirms that the Xiaomi 18 Pro will officially launch outside China. Xiaomi has not yet provided a specific global launch date or listed the countries that will receive the phone.
This is particularly notable because Xiaomi has not released a numbered Pro flagship globally since the Xiaomi 13 Pro in 2023. The Xiaomi 14 Pro and Xiaomi 15 Pro remained China-market models, while the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max also did not receive a standard global release. In other words, the Xiaomi 18 Pro breaks a pattern that has continued for several generations.
We Reported the Global Pro Return Before Xiaomi Confirmed It
For readers who have followed our Xiaomi coverage, this confirmation is also significant because we reported the possibility of the Xiaomi 18 Pro returning to global markets about a year ago. At the time, there was no official confirmation that Xiaomi would change its Pro strategy. The company had already skipped global releases for several generations, making the return of a global Pro model far from certain.
Xiaomi has now put that question to rest. The presentation explicitly states that the Xiaomi 18 Pro global launch is coming in 2026. The exact international launch date, regional pricing and final market list have not yet been announced.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Will Lead the New Snapdragon Generation
The timing also gives the Xiaomi 18 Pro an important position in Qualcomm’s new flagship cycle. Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 was only formally introduced on September 22, while Xiaomi plans to unveil the 18 Pro in China the following day.
For now, the confirmed information is limited to the chipset generation, China launch date and global launch window. Xiaomi has not yet provided a specific international release date.
