New Entry-Level REDMI 17 Series Spotted in GSMA Database

A new leak has just surfaced from the IMEI databases and Mi Code, shedding light on Xiaomi’s upcoming entry-level lineup. Two brand-new device platforms, internally codenamed “mist” and “zephyr,” have been spotted, indicating that Xiaomi is preparing a fresh wave of budget-friendly 4G and 5G smartphones for the summer release window.

The Technical Breakdown of “mist” and “zephyr”

The newly discovered database entries reveal that Xiaomi is aggressively targeting the entry-level segment with updated silicon from Qualcomm.

The first device, codenamed “mist” (Internal model number is P19), is built around the upcoming Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 5G platform. This suggests a significant leap in entry-level 5G performance and efficiency. However, the database currently only shows regional model numbers for China (26021RN18C) and India (26021RN18I). The lack of a definitive global model number in the current database leaves the worldwide release of the 5G variant entirely unconfirmed for now.

The second device, codenamed “zephyr” (Internal model number is P19A), will cater to markets where 4G remains dominant. It is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 chipset. Unlike its 5G sibling, “zephyr” model numbers strongly point toward an exclusive Global release.

While exact specifications regarding battery capacity, charging speeds, and display tech remain closely guarded secrets at this stage, the processor configurations alone tell a compelling story about Xiaomi’s hardware strategy for the upcoming season.

Discovered Devices & Guessed Market Names

Based on the IMEI model numbers and historical naming conventions, here is the current breakdown of the upcoming hardware:

Codename “mist” (P19) – Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 5G:

  • 26021RN18C (China): Expected to launch as the REDMI Note 17R.

  • 26021RN18I (India): Expected to launch as the REDMI 17 5G and potentially rebranded as the POCO M8 Plus 5G.

Note on Global Availability: A potential POCO M9s global variant is heavily rumored, but its database presence remains strictly unconfirmed at this time.

Codename “zephyr” (P19A) – Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2:

  • 26012RN62L / 26012RN62Y / 26012PC62G (Global Only): Expected to launch as the REDMI 17 4G and POCO M9 4G.

Xiaomi is clearly aiming to disrupt the entry-level smartphone market once again. These devices are strategically positioned to launch within the highly competitive $100 to $150 USD price bracket. By offering the latest iteration of Qualcomm’s 4-series 5G chips and 6-series 4G chips at this price point, Xiaomi ensures that reliable performance and modern connectivity remain accessible to the masses without breaking the bank. This aggressive pricing strategy will likely put significant pressure on competing entry-level devices releasing this summer.
