Xiaomi’s REDMI ecosystem may soon expand into a new wearable audio category. According to a new leak from Digital Chat Station, a Xiaomi sub-brand is preparing to launch a pair of clip-on earbuds in Q3, and the product is expected to debut together with the sub-brand’s next flagship device. Based on the leak pattern and the source context, this product is likely to be a new REDMI audio accessory.
REDMI could enter the clip-on earbuds market
The leaked information does not reveal the exact product name, specifications, battery life, codec support, or pricing. However, the timing is important because the earbuds are reportedly planned for the same launch window as a new REDMI flagship. This suggests Xiaomi may position the product as an ecosystem accessory rather than a standalone low-cost audio device.
Clip-on earbuds are becoming more popular because they offer an open-ear wearing style. Unlike traditional in-ear earbuds, they do not fully block the ear canal, making them more comfortable for long use, outdoor walking, commuting, and users who want to remain aware of their surroundings.
Xiaomi already introduced its first clip-on earbuds
For reference, Xiaomi launched its first clip-on earbuds in China on May 21. That model was priced at 849 yuan, with an initial launch price of 799 yuan. Tthis equals roughly $125 and $118, respectively.
Since the pricing was announced in Chinese yuan, this product was introduced exclusively in China for now. The existing Xiaomi clip-on earbuds are available in Pearl White, Basalt Black, Satin Gold, and Iris Purple. Each earbud weighs 5.5 grams and uses an 11mm large driver unit.
Expected features and market positioning
The already-released Xiaomi model supports several smart ecosystem functions, including intelligent translation, voice transcription, Xiao Ai companion features, dual-device smart connection, and Apple item search support. The REDMI version may adopt a more affordable positioning while keeping the same open-ear form factor.
For REDMI, this category makes sense. The brand already has a strong user base around performance phones, wearables, and value-focused accessories. Launching clip-on earbuds beside a new flagship could help Xiaomi build a stronger device ecosystem around REDMI users.
