The highly anticipated successors to the Xiaomi 15T series are officially on the horizon. Recent homologation documents from Brazil’s telecommunications agency, Anatel, alongside early supply chain leaks, have fully exposed the upcoming Xiaomi 17T and its higher-end sibling, the Xiaomi 17T Pro.
Hardware Upgrades and Familiar Aesthetics
Visually, the Xiaomi 17T series is adopting an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach. The Anatel certification (model number 2602DPT53G) confirms that the physical footprint and camera module design remain virtually identical to the previous generation. In fact, early leaks of Xiaomi 17T Pro cases on Alibaba three months ago—which many initially dismissed as counterfeit 15T Pro cases—have now been validated as 100% accurate. The primary visual distinction is the relocation of the LED flash, which has been moved to sit directly beside the main “cooktop” camera array.
Under the hood, the standard Xiaomi 17T is packing serious endurance. The device features a massive 6500mAh battery (nominal 6360mAh, model BM6U), marking a significant 1000mAh increase over the Xiaomi 15T. This will be paired with the included 67W MDY-15-ET fast charger.
Processing power for the standard model relies on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 SoC, offering a refined performance bump over the Dimensity 8400 Ultra found in the 15T. While the specific SoC for the premium Xiaomi 17T Pro remains unconfirmed at this stage, both devices are slated to launch out-of-the-box with Android 16 layered with Xiaomi HyperOS 3.1, ensuring a highly optimized, fluid user experience from day one.
Additionally, optical capabilities are receiving a noticeable boost. The Anatel imagery indicates an upgraded telephoto lens for the standard 17T, likely integrating a periscope zoom system similar to what was previously exclusive to the 15T Pro tier. Connectivity remains top-tier with Wi-Fi 6 (excluding 6GHz), Bluetooth, 5G, and NFC support.
Market Availability and Pricing Impact
Xiaomi is executing a specific regional rollout strategy for the 17-series. The standard Xiaomi 17T is positioned for wide global release, including the Brazilian and Indian markets. However, the Indian market will only receive the standard Xiaomi 17T, while the premium Xiaomi 17T Pro will bypass India entirely.
While official global pricing remains unconfirmed, historical context provides a solid baseline. The previous Xiaomi 15T launched in $550 USD. Given the upgraded battery density and periscope camera tech, we expect the 17T series to maintain or slightly exceed this premium pricing tier when it officially debuts, which could be as early as May.
