REDMI’s 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro flagship to feature 50MP 3x zoom camera

A recent leak from Chinese tech blogger Digital Chat Station reveals that a 2nm flagship smartphone under testing includes a periscope telephoto camera with a 50MP 1/1.95-inch sensor. The camera supports approximately 3x optical zoom with slight telephoto variation. Based on the source’s previous patterns, this device is expected to come from REDMI brand.

The exact model of this new phone is still unknown. Earlier reports from the same source mentioned testing four devices featuring large 7-inch screens and very high-capacity batteries. Among these is the 2nm (Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro) flagship expected to launch in the first half of next year.

For context, REDMI’s current flagship series, REDMI K100 Pro series, launched in August 2026. The REDMI K100 Pro Max sports a 6.9-inch OLED flat display with 2608×1200 resolution, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (3nm) chipset and paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. Its 9070mAh battery supports a strong endurance profile. The series started at approximately CNY 4,499 (around $630).

This new sensor and zoom combination suggests a focus on improved telephoto and mid-range zoom photography for REDMI’s next flagship. However, Xiaomi has not officially confirmed any details about this upcoming device or its features.
