Xiaomi has started crowdfunding for its first full-color night vision indoor camera, the Xiaomi Smart Camera 5 Pro, at a price of 429 yuan (about $60). The campaign runs from September 23, 10 AM to September 30, 10 AM on Xiaomi Youpin.
This new indoor camera features an 8MP+4MP dual-lens setup capable of recording 4K high-definition video. It supports multiple night vision modes tailored for different environments, including full-color imaging throughout the night when the built-in soft night light is activated.
Advanced Night Vision and Lighting Features
The camera automatically switches to black-and-white imaging when no one is detected to save power and reduce distractions. Upon recognizing a human presence, it activates the small night light and returns to full-color mode. It also uses a 940nm infrared light that avoids red glare, delivering crisp black-and-white images in low light.
The design integrates a soft, built-in night light with a matte optical diffuser to distribute light evenly without glare. The light also activates smoothly when detecting people or pets, offering gentle illumination suitable for nighttime monitoring.
Powerful AI and Expanded Monitoring Capabilities
Powered by a 1.5-teraflop computing chip, the camera runs advanced AI algorithms to improve accuracy and intelligence in scenario detection. It provides real-time local AI alerts and keeps records of activity for user review. An improved gimbal mechanism allows remote pan and tilt, expanding the field of view.
Human and pet tracking is supported to follow movement within the home. Gesture recognition enables remote control: users can initiate a call by making an “OK” gesture at the camera, which connects to a smartphone app for two-way voice communication. The app also allows calls to the camera.
Connectivity and Storage Options
The Xiaomi Smart Camera 5 Pro supports Xiaomi’s Surge intelligence platform for smart home integration. It connects via dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and offers flexible storage options including microSD, cloud, and NAS storage formats to suit different user preferences and backup needs.
