Xiaomi XRING O3, 18 Fold and Pad 9 Pro Max stay China-only

Xiaomi’s latest XRING O3 AI processor is to be exclusive to the Chinese market. The 3nm chip powers both the new Xiaomi 18 Fold and Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max. Unfortunately for global fans, these flagship devices will remain unavailable outside China like XRING O1.

XRING O3 SoC Details

The XRING O3 is a custom AI-focused system on a chip designed by Xiaomi. It features a 20-core CPU and a 24-core AI engine supported by a 14-core neural processing unit (NPU). Memory is unified LPDDR6 with a capacity of 160GB and the NPU delivers up to 200 TOPS (tera operations per second). According to Xiaomi, the chip aims to enhance AI capabilities across people, vehicles, and smart home devices.

Xiaomi 18 Fold and Pad 9 Pro Max Hardware Highlights

The Xiaomi 18 Fold boasts a triple Leica camera setup with a 200MP main sensor, 50MP telephoto, and 50MP ultrawide units. Its foldable display measures 7.58 inches internally and 5.38 inches externally, both using LTG panels. The device carries a large 6000mAh battery to support its power-hungry hardware. The Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max pairs the XRING O3 chipset with a large display and advanced productivity features running on HyperOS 4.

No Global Availability Confirmed

Xiaomi has officially confirmed that the XRING O3-powered Xiaomi 18 Fold and Pad 9 Pro Max will be sold exclusively in China. There is no indication that these models will launch internationally. This limits access to the XRING O3 chip and related HyperOS 4 experience to the Chinese market.

Implications for HyperOS 4 Ecosystem

The XRING O3 SoC is part of Xiaomi’s plan to deepen AI integration within its HyperOS 4 environment. The September 2026 release schedule for the O3, alongside two other chips named D100 and O100, suggests Xiaomi is building a tiered AI hardware platform. However, restricting the XRING O3 and flagship devices to China narrows the scope of this platform’s initial impact.

Users interested in Xiaomi’s evolving AI and HyperOS 4 software across international markets will need to look to other device models equipped with different chipsets.
