Xiaomi HyperConnect v2.9.0 Brings Full Message Control to iOS

Xiaomi is further breaking the walls between competing ecosystems with the latest update to its Xiaomi Interconnectivity (Xiaomi HyperConnect) services for iOS and iPadOS. While the integration between Android and iOS has historically been restricted, the new v2.9.0 (165) update introduces a highly anticipated continuity feature that allows users to bridge their Xiaomi smartphones with their iPhones more seamlessly than ever.

New Features & Technical Enhancements

The primary highlight of this update is the addition of Remote Message Management. Users can now open the Messages app from their Xiaomi smartphone directly on their iPhone via screen mirroring. This allows for reading and replying to SMS/MMS messages without having to pick up the secondary device.

This is made possible through the Xiaomi HyperConnect framework, which utilizes low-latency mirroring protocols to project the Xiaomi system interface onto the Apple display. Beyond the new messaging feature, the update includes:

  • Optimized Mirroring Stability: Reduced lag when interacting with mirrored apps.

  • Bug Fixes: Resolution of “known issues” regarding device discovery in multi-band Wi-Fi environments.

  • UI Refinement: General experience optimizations for a more native feel on iOS 14.0+ and iPadOS 14.0+ devices.

Affected Devices & Software Requirements

To utilize these new features, your devices must meet the following software criteria:

  • Apple Devices: iPhone or iPad running iOS/iPadOS 14.0 or later.

  • Xiaomi Devices: Phones must be updated to Xiaomi HyperOS 2 or the newly released Xiaomi HyperOS 3.

  • System Services: The Xiaomi device must have “Interconnectivity Services” version 16.00.50 or higher and “Xiaomi Share” version 3.3.0 or higher.

  • App Version: v2.9.0 (165) (Available via the Apple App Store).

Release Phase

This update is currently rolling out primarily in the Chinese market, where the Xiaomi Interconnectivity app has become a vital tool for users who carry both a Xiaomi flagship and an iPhone. By allowing iPhone users to interact with their Xiaomi messages, Xiaomi is positioning its ecosystem as a viable, “open” alternative to the closed-loop nature of its competitors.
