Xiaomi Becomes First Chinese Brand to Self-Develop OLED Emission Materials

REDMI is set to launch its K100 Pro series, marking a new milestone in display technology. Xiaomi president and smartphone division head Lu Weibing confirmed that Xiaomi has become the world’s third and China’s first manufacturer to develop OLED emission materials in-house, starting from the light-emitting layer.

Breakthrough in OLED Materials and Display Technology

Lu emphasized Xiaomi’s long-term commitment to screen innovation. After independently developing red OLED materials last year, Xiaomi has now also achieved breakthroughs in green materials. The core advancement is the fourth-generation pTSF, a foundational display technology co-created with researchers from Tsinghua University over more than two years. This technology converts laboratory theory into mass production and debuts in the REDMI K100 Pro series, representing a key leap for domestically produced screens.

REDMI K100 Pro Max Display and Gaming Features

The K100 Pro Max features a 6.9-inch ultra-narrow bezel flat screen framed by a four-curve metal body. It includes an integrated metal DECO and a floating LED ring that pulses with music. The device launches the new M11 OLED emission materials with a “Super Pixel” all-RGB lossless subpixel arrangement.

This model is Xiaomi’s first to sport a 185Hz high-refresh-rate gaming screen, natively optimized for over 30 popular games. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip alongside the AI co-processor D2 for game frame enhancement and upscaling. The touch sampling rate has been raised to 480Hz, combined with a dedicated gaming antenna to reduce latency. This device will be launched globally as POCO F9 Ultra.

Camera and Battery Specifications

Imaging capabilities on the K100 Pro Max include a 200-megapixel main camera, a 5x periscope telephoto lens supporting up to 100x digital zoom, and a 50MP ultra-wide lens equivalent to 17mm focal length. The device houses a large 9070mAh “Xiaomi Jinshajiang” battery. It supports 100W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and reverse charging with 27W wired and 22.5W wireless outputs.
