POCO F9 Ultra Price Hike Expected: New REDMI K100 Series Leaks

The smartphone industry is bracing for a new wave of flagship killers, and Xiaomi’s highly anticipated REDMI K100 series is at the center of the conversation. According to renowned industry insider @DigitalChatStation, the upcoming REDMI K100 lineup will experience a price increase, but it is strategically positioned to be “less than the increase for competing products.” This indicates an aggressive market strategy from Xiaomi to maintain its cost-to-performance dominance.

As is standard with Xiaomi’s release cycle, the REDMI K100 series will initially launch exclusively in China. However, for the global market, the standard REDMI K series will be rebranded and launched under the POCO brand. Specifically, internal leaks suggest the top-tier REDMI K100 Pro Max will make its international debut as the POCO F9 Ultra.

Internal Code Q11X and Next-Gen Hardware

The most significant developments surround the top-end model in the lineup, the REDMI K100 Pro Max (identified by its internal model number Q11X). Xiaomi is actively testing substantial hardware upgrades that will push the boundaries of the traditional flagship-killer segment:

  • Next-Generation Silicon: Industry projections and early testing point toward the inclusion of the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor, ensuring cutting-edge AI processing and power efficiency.

  • Massive Optics Overhaul: The camera system is receiving a massive bump, currently testing a 200-megapixel main sensor paired with a dedicated 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens. This addresses previous criticisms of mid-range camera performance in performance-focused devices.

  • Sensory Enhancements: The Q11X will feature an upgraded acoustic motor and enhanced audio quality, delivering a more premium haptic and multimedia experience.

Affected Devices / Software Versions

  • REDMI K100 Standard Edition

  • REDMI K100 Max

  • REDMI K100 Pro Max

Price Restructuring

The impending price increase across the mobile industry is largely driven by rising component costs, particularly advanced silicon. However, Xiaomi’s strategy is to undercut rivals by absorbing some of these costs.

To provide context on the expected pricing structure, we can look at the launch prices of the previous generation (Note: These devices were introduced exclusively in China, with prices converted to USD for reference):

  • REDMI K90 Standard Edition: Launched at 2599 CNY (approx. $360 USD).

  • REDMI K90 Max: Launched at 2999 CNY (approx. $415 USD).

  • REDMI K90 Pro Max: Originally launched at 3999 CNY (approx. $555 USD), later adjusted to 4199 CNY (approx. $585 USD).

Consumers should expect the REDMI K100 series to launch slightly above these historical benchmarks, but still well below the $800+ threshold of traditional ultra-premium flagships.
