POCO F9 Pro and F9 Ultra Certified with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

POCO has secured GSMA certification for two new models, the POCO F9 Pro and POCO F9 Ultra, signaling an upcoming launch expected in the first half of 2026. The certification details clarify the hardware choices and confirm key specifications ahead of any official announcement.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Chipset Confirmed

Contrary to initial expectations that these phones might use the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, MI Code analysis confirms both models run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (SM8850). This is the flagship chipset for 2025 currently in production, as the Gen 6 version has yet to be released. The early launch schedule is likely the reason the devices do not feature the newer chipset yet.

Display and Charging Specifications

The phone screens will use AMOLED panels produced by TCL, featuring an impressive 185Hz refresh rate and ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensors, according to MI Code. Fast charging support includes 100W wired and 50W wireless options, ensuring quick battery refills.

Differences Between POCO F9 Pro and F9 Ultra

The POCO F9 Ultra, codename Songyuan and linked to the REDMI K100 Pro Max for China, will have a larger 10,000mAh battery. The POCO F9 Pro, codenamed Athens and related to the REDMI K100, offers an 8,000mAh-plus capacity, both tailored for the Chinese market initially. Both models will support eSIM technology and carry a 200MP main camera unit, a trend continuing among high-end Xiaomi family devices.

Wide Regional Certification

Certification tags indicate global readiness with valid listings for markets including the EEA, Turkey, Indonesia, Russia, Taiwan, and Japan. This suggests POCO plans for a broad international rollout soon after the initial launch.
