Xiaomi has introduced two new entry-level smartphones for global markets: the REDMI 17 5G and REDMI 17 4G. Both phones share the same design language and feature a large 6.9-inch IPS LCD screen with 1600×720 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
Hardware and Performance Differences
The REDMI 17 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset, while the REDMI 17 4G uses the MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra processor. Both models come with either 4GB or 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. However, the 5G variant uses faster UFS 2.2 storage, whereas the 4G model relies on slower eMMC 5.1 storage.
Battery, Camera, and Features
Each phone is equipped with a sizable 7500mAh battery supporting 45W wired fast charging and 22.5W wired reverse charging. Photography hardware includes a 50MP rear main camera and an 8MP front camera. Both models feature an RGB breathing light on the back for incoming calls and notifications, IP64 dust and water resistance, NFC capability, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Colors and Pricing
The REDMI 17 4G is available in black, dark blue, lotus purple, and oak green, starting at about $154. The REDMI 17 5G offers black, dark blue, and vibrant orange colors, with a starting price of about $177.
