A new leak from reliable Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed what is believed to be an early engineering prototype of Xiaomi’s next ultra-premium flagship. While the device has not been officially identified, the specifications and community discussion strongly suggest it could be the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max.
According to the leak, the prototype combines a 2nm flagship chipset, a 200MP dual-camera system, a massive 8,000mAh+ battery, and several premium hardware upgrades that could make it Xiaomi’s most powerful smartphone yet.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Max prototype specifications
Digital Chat Station shared detailed information about the engineering sample, revealing a flagship focused on photography, battery life, and premium hardware.
The leaked specifications include:
- 2nm flagship processor
- Custom ultra-clear flat display
- Large rounded-corner design
- Ultra-narrow symmetrical bezels
- 200MP LOFIC ultra-large sensor main camera
- 200MP telephoto camera with tele-macro support
- 8,000mAh+ battery
- 100W wired fast charging
- Wireless charging
- Upgraded dual stereo speakers
- Larger vibration motor for improved haptics
Although Xiaomi has not confirmed any of these specifications, the leak points to a significant hardware upgrade over the current flagship generation.
200MP telephoto macro camera
One of the most interesting parts of the leak is the camera system.
The prototype reportedly combines a 200MP LOFIC main sensor with a 200MP telephoto camera that also supports tele-macro photography.
After one user questioned whether the lens could focus at around 30 cm, Digital Chat Station clarified that it is a close-range telephoto macro camera, allowing detailed macro photography while maintaining the advantages of a telephoto lens.
If implemented in the final product, this would give Xiaomi one of the most advanced mobile camera systems in the industry.
Built for flagship performance
Besides photography, Xiaomi is also reportedly focusing heavily on performance.
The engineering prototype is said to include:
- A next-generation 2nm flagship chipset
- More powerful cooling hardware
- Larger dual stereo speakers
- Improved vibration motor
- Massive battery with 100W charging
Combined with the rumored battery exceeding 8,000mAh, the device could deliver significantly longer battery life than most current flagship smartphones.
Premium price expected
The tipster also hinted that such premium hardware would naturally increase manufacturing costs.
When a user commented that the device “must be extremely expensive,” Digital Chat Station replied that the selling price would also be high, suggesting Xiaomi is positioning the phone firmly in the ultra-premium flagship segment.
For comparison, the current Xiaomi 17 Pro Max launched in China starting at 5,999 yuan (approximately $840) and already featured:
- 6.9-inch flat display
- Leica professional triple-camera system
- 7,500mAh battery
- 100W wired charging
- Snapdragon 8 Elite processor
- Rear secondary display
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max prototype appears to push nearly every hardware specification even further.
Market impact
If the leaked specifications prove accurate, Xiaomi could significantly raise the bar for Android flagship smartphones in 2027.
A combination of a 2nm chipset, dual 200MP cameras, an 8,000mAh+ battery, and premium multimedia hardware would position the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max as one of the most feature-packed flagship devices on the market.
However, as these specifications come from an engineering prototype, they should be treated as preliminary. Xiaomi may continue refining the hardware before the device reaches mass production.
