Xiaomi Opens Android 17 Beta for Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra

Xiaomi has officially launched recruitment for its first Android 17 Beta program built on Xiaomi HyperOS 3, giving early adopters a chance to test Google’s newest Android release before the public rollout. The program is currently limited to the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra (including the Leica Edition), with 1,000 beta slots available for each device in China.

As previously reported by XimiTime, Xiaomi has been actively testing Android 17 internally for months. The official beta recruitment now marks the first public step toward the next major HyperOS release.

Android 17 Beta Registration Opens

Registration begins on July 2 and remains open until July 8, or until all available positions are filled.

Participants must register through Xiaomi Community and meet the required firmware versions:

  • Xiaomi 17 Ultra: OS3.0.308.0.WPACNXM
  • Xiaomi 17: OS3.0.315.0.WPCCNXM

Xiaomi expects to review applications throughout July and begin distributing the Android 17 Beta update to selected users before the end of the month. This is China only for now.

Important Beta Program Restrictions

Xiaomi emphasizes that this is an Early Bird Beta intended primarily for developers and experienced users.

Participants should be aware of several important limitations:

  • The software may contain bugs and compatibility issues.
  • Xiaomi recommends installing it only on a secondary device.
  • Downgrading back to Android 16 is not supported after upgrading.
  • Beta users cannot switch directly to the stable release until testing concludes.
  • Users who previously joined the miclaw closed beta must leave that program before applying.

Those wishing to exit the Android 17 beta can request removal via Xiaomi’s designated support email while continuing to receive future Android 17-based updates.

XimiTime Previously Reported Android 17 Development

This announcement follows several exclusive reports from XimiTime regarding Xiaomi’s Android 17 roadmap. Earlier this year, we revealed that Xiaomi had already begun internal Android 17 development alongside HyperOS 3, with the Xiaomi 17 series serving as the primary testing platform.

The official recruitment confirms that Xiaomi remains among the first Android manufacturers to publicly adopt Google’s newest operating system shortly after its release.

Xiaomi’s Strategy

By opening the Android 17 Beta program just weeks after Google’s stable release, Xiaomi is demonstrating its commitment to accelerating software development for flagship devices. Early community testing allows Xiaomi to identify bugs, optimize HyperOS 3, and refine Android 17 features before the wider rollout. I have a complaint from you, why don’t you update the phone? You made a Poco M5 model phone. It has Hyper OS 1 but its Android is 14. At least update it to 15. Please, as a user, I have objections.
