Xiaomi reveals XRING O100 prototype for high-speed local AI processing

At its recent XRING chip technology event on August 24, Xiaomi revealed two AI-focused prototype devices powered by its self-developed Xuanjie chips. These new edge AI terminals showcase Xiaomi’s move into high-performance AI computing beyond smartphones.

XRING O100 Prototype: Redesigned for Edge AI Speed and Cooling

The XRING O100 prototype is designed as a fast AI inference device optimized for large models running on the edge. Xiaomi’s Group Partner and Mobile President Lu Weibing shared images of this device, highlighting its unique double-chip setup that combines the Xuanjie O3 and O100 processors for collaborative computing.

Notably, the prototype abandons traditional smartphone imaging modules and reworks the entire mainboard to support active air cooling. It can sustain cooling power up to 10 watts, enabling stable high-performance AI workloads.

The device embeds Xiaomi’s MiMo edge-side AI model, achieving an inference speed of 295 tokens per second in real-world measurements. This indicates robust local AI processing without heavy reliance on cloud services.

Xiaomi AI Cube Prototype: Mini High-Performance AI Desktop

Alongside the O100, Xiaomi introduced the AI Cube prototype, a compact mini PC with an aerospace-grade aluminum body featuring 33,874 precision CNC-machined ventilation holes. This chassis supports continuous high-performance operation at 150 watts.

Internally, the AI Cube integrates three Xuanjie chips—O3, O100, and D100—combined with a large 80GB unified memory pool. This setup allows it to run both a 120-billion parameter large AI model and a 3-billion parameter edge model. Users can switch between fast and slow system modes depending on task complexity.

The AI Cube targets both frontend app development and demanding programming workloads. It acts as a personal AI supercomputing terminal that can handle diverse AI tasks locally.

Demonstrations and Visuals Highlight Xiaomi’s AI Capabilities

During the event, Xiaomi showcased demo cases running on these two edge AI prototypes. Video footage shared highlights their real-time AI performance. Photos from the event reveal the devices’ innovative designs optimized for cooling and AI processing.

At this stage, both devices are development prototypes with no confirmed consumer launch plans. Still, Xiaomi’s move highlights its efforts to build a dedicated AI hardware and software ecosystem incorporating the new HyperOS platform.
