Xiaomi HyperOS 3.1 Security app update adds shutdown confirmation feature

Xiaomi has released a new update for its Security application, introducing a new Shutdown Confirmation feature for HyperOS Global users. Available in Security V12.7.2-260703.1.1, the update adds an extra layer of anti-theft protection by requiring screen lock authentication before a locked device can be powered off.

Unlike a full system OTA, this feature is delivered through the Security app, allowing Xiaomi to roll it out much faster to compatible HyperOS devices.

What is Shutdown Confirmation?

The new Shutdown Confirmation option prevents unauthorized users from turning off your smartphone while it is locked.

When enabled, anyone attempting to power off the device must first verify the configured screen lock, such as:

• PIN
• Password
• Pattern

This makes it significantly more difficult for someone to disable your phone after it has been lost or stolen, helping features like Find Device remain active for a longer period.

Where can you find it?

After updating the Security app, the feature appears inside the Security application’s Toolbox section. Once opened, users can simply enable the Shutdown Confirmation toggle. After activation, every shutdown attempt while the phone is locked will require authentication.
