Xiaomi’s next-generation foldable smartphone is once again in the spotlight after new reports from China revealed fresh details about an ultra-premium engineering prototype. According to blogger Digital Chat Station, the device is currently being tested with a next-generation SoC, a 200MP camera, a 6000mAh-class battery, wireless charging, water resistance, and productivity accessories. More importantly, the latest information appears to support XimiTime’s earlier exclusive leak about Xiaomi’s upcoming foldable device, codenamed lhasa, powered by the XRING O3 chipset.
XimiTime Revealed XRING O3 Details Two Months Ago
While the new report describes the prototype as using a “new generation SoC,” this is not the first time Xiaomi’s next foldable chipset has appeared online. XimiTime previously revealed around two months ago that Xiaomi was testing a new foldable device with the codename lhasa, internal platform Q18, and model number 2608BPX34C.
Our earlier findings also showed that this device was linked to Xiaomi’s next self-developed chipset, XRING O3. XimiTime also uncovered early clock information related to the XRING O3 platform, making this one of the first technical signs that Xiaomi’s next foldable could move beyond Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon platforms.
This means the latest Chinese report does not introduce the XRING O3 information for the first time. Instead, it strengthens the earlier XimiTime leak and gives more context about the final product category Xiaomi may be preparing.
Leaked Foldable Prototype Specifications
According to the latest leak, the engineering prototype is positioned as an ultra-high-end foldable product priced above 10,000 yuan, which is approximately $1,476. Since the price is mentioned in Chinese yuan, the device is currently expected to launch in China first.

Expected Device: Xiaomi MIX Fold 5 or Xiaomi 17 Fold
The device is currently expected to be Xiaomi’s next premium foldable phone. Earlier codebase findings connected the model number 2608BPX34C with the codename lhasa, suggesting that this device could launch as the Xiaomi MIX Fold 5.
However, there is also a possibility that Xiaomi may use a new naming strategy and launch the device as the Xiaomi 17 Fold, aligning it more closely with the company’s main flagship series. At this stage, the final commercial name has not been officially confirmed.
