A new leak from China suggests that Xiaomi’s upcoming REDMI K100 series may push smartphone battery capacity to a new level. According to information shared by blogger Digital Chat Station, a “sub-brand flagship” from an unnamed manufacturer is currently testing a 10000mAh± battery. IT Home notes that users in the comment section believe this device could belong to the Xiaomi REDMI K100 series, although the final model name has not been officially confirmed yet. Since this is a REDMI K-series device, it is expected to launch first in China, while standard REDMI K models are usually introduced globally under the POCO brand.
What makes this leak important
The biggest highlight is clearly the battery. Previous reports about the suspected REDMI K100 series mentioned a battery capacity of more than 8000mAh, but the newly tested 10000mAh± version represents a much more aggressive step. If Xiaomi keeps this capacity for the final product, the REDMI K100 series could become one of the most endurance-focused performance phones in the flagship-killer segment.
This also fits Xiaomi’s recent strategy of using high-density silicon-carbon battery technology to increase capacity without making phones excessively thick or heavy. However, because this is still an engineering-stage leak, the final retail capacity may change before launch.
