First Look: REDMI K90 Max “Space Silver” Design Showcase

Following the jaw-dropping reveals regarding its internal thermal architecture, Xiaomi has officially pulled back the curtain on the exterior design of the upcoming REDMI K90 Max. Launching in China this month—and expected to debut in international markets as the Xiaomi 17T Pro without fan—the company has released high-resolution renders of the device in a stunning “Space Silver” colorway.

Dissecting the “Space Silver” Aesthetic

Based on the official photographic renders, Xiaomi has masterfully balanced the extreme hardware of a gaming phone with the premium, understated aesthetics of a modern flagship.

Premium Build and Finish

The “Space Silver” edition features a cool, matte silver back panel that appears highly resistant to fingerprints. Moving away from plastic mid-frames, the REDMI K90 Max boasts a rigid, flat-edge aluminum alloy frame complete with subtle antenna bands. This metal chassis not only enhances the structural integrity of the device but also acts as a passive heatsink to assist the active cooling system.

The Camera and Cooling Island

The most striking design element is the rear camera and cooling module, which occupies the top third of the device.

  • The Optics: The left side of the raised rectangular island houses a vertically stacked dual-camera array alongside an LED flash, set within a slightly elevated pill-shaped housing.

  • The Cooling Grille: To the right of the lenses lies the physical air intake for the 18.1mm fan. Instead of aggressive, glowing “gamer” vents, Xiaomi opted for a minimalist, circular grille with clean vertical slats.

  • Precision Detailing: Just below the camera array, subtle text reads “◄ ACTIVE COOLING ◄”, indicating the airflow path toward the sleek exhaust vents seamlessly integrated into the bottom edge of the camera bump.

Hardware Recap: Beauty Meets the Performance Demon

It is astonishing that this refined, ultra-narrow bezel chassis houses such extreme hardware. Behind that minimalist grille sits a forward-leaning fan capable of pulling 0.42 CFM of air (1.3 times the industry standard). Even more impressively, despite the visible physical grille openings, the entire “Space Silver” chassis maintains the previously announced IP66/IP68/IP69 “Grand Slam” dust and water resistance rating.

Market Impact and System Enhancements

Historically, smartphones with physical cooling fans looked like bulky, RGB-heavy toys. With the “Space Silver” REDMI K90 Max, Xiaomi is proving that hardcore mobile gamers and power users do not have to compromise on executive-level styling. The sleek aluminum frame and hidden exhaust ducts mean this device will look just as appropriate in a boardroom as it does in a gaming tournament.

Running on Xiaomi HyperOS 3.1, the software will seamlessly match the hardware’s elegance, offering fluid UI animations driven by the thermal-throttling-free Dimensity 9500+ chipset.
