A high-end Xiaomi flagship featuring a triple 200-megapixel camera system reportedly did not enter mass production. According to a post from tech blogger Digital Chat Station, the phone was designed with a 1mm-class four-sided straight-edge display and a set of three 200MP cameras, including a 1/1.12 inch LOFIC main sensor, a 1/1.56 inch ultra-wide camera, and a 1/1.28 inch LOFIC continuous optical zoom periscope telephoto lens.
The device was expected to be powered by a high-end flagship chipset with benchmark scores surpassing 5 million points. Additional planned features included a multi-spectral lens, magnetic snap-on external lenses, a 0916 vibration motor, and symmetrical dual stereo speakers. Despite these premium specifications, the phone was canceled internally due to concerns that a high price could hurt its market competitiveness.
This device aligns with previous rumors about the Xiaomi 18 Ultra. In August, reports indicated the Xiaomi 18 series would reduce its lineup from four models to three, dropping the Xiaomi 18 Ultra in favor of Xiaomi 18, Xiaomi 18 Pro, and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. However, the cancellation of the 18 Ultra does not signify abandoning the Ultra line entirely, as leaks suggest the Xiaomi 19 Ultra will still be released normally in the next generation.
The scrapped Xiaomi 18 Ultra’s sophisticated camera setup and advanced hardware highlight Xiaomi’s continued push into ultra-premium smartphones, though market pricing remains a key factor in product decisions.
