HyperOS April 29 Bluetooth Update Rolls Out for All Xiaomi Devices

Xiaomi has initiated a global rollout for a crucial system-level Bluetooth update, aimed at optimizing audio connectivity and expanding peripheral compatibility across its device portfolio. Arriving just in time for the end of April 2026, this over-the-air (OTA) package ensures that your device maintains robust and energy-efficient wireless connections.

What This Update Brings to the Table

Based on the official rollout screens, this update officially bumps the Bluetooth application to version 21.10.1-26.04.23-26.04.23, with a highly optimized package size of just 13.76 MB.

While Xiaomi often utilizes standardized changelogs for minor system component updates, this specific release targets two primary areas of the wireless experience:

  • Expanded Earphone Support: The changelog explicitly notes “Added support for more earphone models.” Technically, this means Xiaomi is updating the Bluetooth system profiles (such as A2DP and HFP) and mapping new hardware identifiers. This ensures seamless pop-up pairing, optimized codec selection (like LDAC or LHDC), and accurate battery reporting for upcoming TWS (True Wireless Stereo) releases under the Xiaomi, REDMI, and POCO brands.

  • Updated Bluetooth Service Framework: This is the most critical technical shift. A framework update goes deeper than the UI; it patches the underlying system services that manage background scanning, device handshakes, and low-energy (BLE) states. By updating the framework layer, Xiaomi is actively mitigating common architectural bugs such as unexpected connection drops, audio desync during gaming, and excessive battery drain when a device is connected but idle.

How the Update Improves the System

For the end-user, system-level framework updates translate directly to daily reliability. If you have been experiencing micro-stutters while listening to high-bitrate audio, or if your REDMI Buds occasionally fail to trigger the quick-pair animation upon opening the case, this framework refresh is designed to resolve those handshake timeouts. Furthermore, by streamlining the background service, devices powered by flagship silicon like the Snapdragon 8 Elite will see even better idle efficiency when connected to peripherals like a Xiaomi Band or a smartwatch.
