REDMI’s latest upgrade changes where you tap for NFC

Xiaomi has introduced a notable hidden upgrade to the REDMI K100 Pro Max by adding an NFC card area on the phone’s top edge. This means users can now trigger NFC functions not only on the back but also at the top of the device, offering more convenience for contactless payments and access cards.

The REDMI product manager confirmed that the REDMI K90 Pro Max also supports this dual NFC card zone feature. However, the phone cases are not interchangeable between the K100 Pro Max and K90 Pro Max. The manager clarified that the REDMI K90 Pro Max cases do not fit the K100 Pro Max well and may cause a lifting effect.

The REDMI K100 Pro Max was officially launched on August 11 with key highlights including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip and an AI-powered D2 independent display chip. It houses a large 9070mAh battery with 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging support, plus reverse charging options. The starting price in China is about $610. It will be available globally as POCO F9 Ultra. This dual NFC card area is a practical upgrade focused on improving user convenience in daily NFC tasks, though Xiaomi has kept this feature low-key so far.
