REDMI reportedly testing Qualcomm’s 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 flagship chip

A new leak suggests that REDMI is already testing Qualcomm’s next-generation 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 platform. According to information shared by reliable Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, the mysterious device is expected to launch during the first half of next year, making it one of the earliest smartphones to adopt Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chipset.

Early Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 testing underway

The leak claims that a Xiaomi subsidiary—widely believed to be REDMI—has started internal testing of a smartphone powered by Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship processor.

Although the exact device name has not been revealed, the report indicates that the phone is currently in the engineering validation stage. This means Xiaomi is testing hardware integration, thermal performance, battery efficiency, and software optimization long before the product enters mass production.

If accurate, the device could become one of REDMI’s highest-performance smartphones to date.

What we know so far

According to the leak, the upcoming device is expected to feature:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset
  • Advanced 2nm manufacturing process
  • Internal engineering testing currently underway
  • Planned launch in the first half of next year

No additional hardware specifications, including display, battery, charging, or camera details, have been disclosed yet.

Why the 2nm chip matters

Qualcomm is expected to unveil the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 during the Snapdragon Summit 2026, scheduled for September 22–24. The new flagship processor is widely expected to deliver significant improvements in power efficiency, sustained performance, and AI processing thanks to its move to a 2nm manufacturing process.

For REDMI, adopting Qualcomm’s newest flagship platform would continue the brand’s strategy of delivering flagship-level performance at a more competitive price than traditional premium smartphones.
