Xiaomi 18 Series Camera Lineup Leaks: Three Models, LoFIC Flagship Sensor, and Telephoto Macro

A new leak from well-known tipster Digital Chat Station appears to reveal the camera strategy for Xiaomi’s upcoming Xiaomi 18 series. While Xiaomi has yet to officially confirm any specifications, the latest engineering prototype information suggests the company is preparing three distinct flagship models, each targeting a different segment of the premium smartphone market.

Three Different Camera Configurations

According to the leak, Xiaomi is testing three flagship devices with noticeably different camera hardware.

Compact Model

The smallest model is said to feature:

  • Large 200MP primary camera
  • Dual-camera setup
  • Focus on a compact flagship experience

Although details remain limited, the leak indicates Xiaomi is prioritizing a large main sensor rather than adding multiple secondary cameras.

Pro Model

The mid-sized flagship reportedly receives a more versatile camera system featuring:

  • Large 200MP primary camera
  • Dedicated telephoto camera
  • Telephoto macro photography

Digital Chat Station later confirmed that the telephoto camera can focus from approximately 15cm, enabling high-quality close-up photography without requiring a separate macro sensor.

Ultra Model Focuses on Image Quality

The largest flagship prototype reportedly receives Xiaomi’s most advanced imaging system.

According to the leak, the Ultra model features:

  • Large LoFIC main camera sensor
  • Premium imaging pipeline
  • Larger camera hardware than the other variants

LoFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) technology is designed to improve dynamic range by preserving more highlight and shadow detail in challenging lighting conditions. Previous reports have suggested Xiaomi plans to expand the use of LoFIC technology across its next-generation flagship lineup.

Large Batteries Across the Entire Lineup

When asked about battery capacity, Digital Chat Station avoided revealing exact numbers but replied that all three models will feature relatively large batteries.

Comments from industry observers suggest engineering targets around 7,200mAh, 7,000mAh, and 8,500mAh, although these figures have not been confirmed and should be treated as speculation.

Engineering Samples May Still Change

As with any early engineering prototype, final specifications remain subject to change before launch. Xiaomi frequently tests multiple hardware configurations during development, meaning camera sensors, battery capacities, and other features could differ in retail devices.
