Mysterious REDMI 5G phone passes 3C certification with 100W charging

A mysterious new Xiaomi 5G smartphone has appeared in China’s 3C certification database, revealing support for 100W fast charging. According to IT Home, the device carries the model number M511CD, which does not match Xiaomi’s usual recent model-numbering pattern. Because of this unusual identifier, there is currently no reliable information confirming the phone’s commercial name, product series, or launch schedule.

What do we know about this new Xiaomi phone?

The certification listing confirms that the device is a 5G smartphone from Xiaomi. However, the most interesting detail is its model number. IT Home notes that M511CD is completely different from Xiaomi’s previous model-numbering rules, making it difficult to connect this device to a known Xiaomi, REDMI, or POCO series. But our GSMA database findings shows that it will be REDMI Phone.

The 3C certification also shows that the phone will be manufactured by Lens Technology (Xiangtan) Co., Ltd. and will ship with Xiaomi’s MDY-18-EW charger. This is the same charger model used with the Xiaomi 17 series, and it supports 100W fast charging.

Confirmed certification details

The available information is limited, but the 3C listing gives us several important details:

  • Brand: REDMI
  • Device type: 5G smartphone
  • Model number: M511CD
  • Charging support: 100W fast charging
  • Included charger: MDY-18-EW
  • Manufacturer: Lens Technology (Xiangtan) Co., Ltd.

Since the commercial name is not confirmed, it would be inaccurate to claim that this device belongs to the REDMI series.

Why this certification matters

A 3C certification usually appears before a device enters the final launch preparation stage in China. It does not reveal the full specifications, but it confirms that the product has passed an important regulatory step for charging and electrical safety.

The presence of 100W fast charging suggests that this mysterious Xiaomi device is unlikely to be an entry-level model. Xiaomi generally reserves 100W-class charging for higher-performance devices, including premium Xiaomi models and selected performance-focused REDMI devices.

However, because the model number does not follow Xiaomi’s familiar naming structure, this device could also represent a new product line, an internal testing model, or a special market variant.

Market impact

The certification of M511CD shows that Xiaomi is preparing another 100W-capable 5G smartphone for the Chinese market. While the identity of the device remains unknown, the use of a high-power charger suggests that Xiaomi may be testing a more premium or performance-oriented product.

For Xiaomi users, this is an early signal that the company’s upcoming device lineup may continue to focus on faster charging, stronger power management, and flagship-level hardware even outside its most obvious product families.
