REDMI Note 17 5G appears in GSMA database with POCO variant

Xiaomi’s upcoming REDMI Note 17 5G has appeared in the GSMA database, revealing new global model numbers and suggesting that the device is already being prepared for international markets. The listing includes 26081RA18G and 26081RA18L under the REDMI Note branding, while a separate POCO variant with model number 26081PC18G has also surfaced. Interestingly, these models appear to be global-only for now, with no China or India variants listed under the same 2608 (2026 August) series.

GSMA listing confirms new REDMI Note 17 5G models

According to the GSMA database information, the device is registered under Xiaomi Communications Co., Ltd. with the market name REDMI Note 17 5G. Although the brand field still appears as “Redmi” in the database, Xiaomi’s official market branding is REDMI, so the device should be referred to as REDMI Note 17 5G.

The newly spotted model numbers are:

  • 26081RA18G
  • 26081PC18G
  • 26021RN18I
  • 26081RA18L
  • 26021RN18C
  • 26021PC18I

The RA code usually points to REDMI Note-branded devices, while RN is more commonly used for regular REDMI models. This makes the 26081RA18G and 26081RA18L listings especially important because they suggest Xiaomi may be separating the REDMI Note 17 5G from the earlier REDMI 17 5G development path.

A confusing second model family also exists

The interesting part is that Xiaomi also has another related model family with an earlier date code: These model numbers are believed to be linked to the same general product generation, but they follow a different naming path. Since RN usually represents regular REDMI devices, the China model could launch as something like REDMI 17R, while the POCO version may arrive under a name such as POCO M9 5G.

This creates an unusual situation. Xiaomi appears to be preparing two closely related model-number families: one under the 26081RA18 series for the global REDMI Note 17 5G and one under the 26021RN18 series for China and India-focused models.

Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 expected

The REDMI Note 17 5G is expected to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset. This would make the device a budget 5G smartphone focused on better efficiency, modern connectivity, and improved entry-level performance.

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 platform is expected to target affordable 5G devices, giving Xiaomi a stronger position in markets where low-cost 5G phones are becoming increasingly important. If Xiaomi uses this chipset across both REDMI and POCO variants, the company could offer similar hardware under different regional brands.

China certification suggests the project may not be cancelled

A recent China network access certification also mentioned a Xiaomi REDMI device with model number 26021RN18C, expected to feature the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset. This strongly suggests that the China-side model has not been cancelled.

However, the existence of both 2602 and 2608 model-number families is unusual. Xiaomi may have changed its launch schedule, separated the REDMI Note and regular REDMI product lines, or prepared different regional versions with different market names.

For now, the safest interpretation is that REDMI Note 17 5G and POCO M9 5G is being prepared for global markets, while the 26021RN18C / 26021RN18I / 26021PC18I family may represent China and India-focused REDMI and POCO models.
