Xiaomi has officially joined the growing list of Android manufacturers adding Apple AirDrop compatibility to Android’s native Quick Share system. Back to past year and starting with Pixel 10, Google added support Apple AirDrop feature on Quick Share. According to Xiaomi’s HyperOS announcement on X, AirDrop support is now available through Quick Share, allowing users to send photos and files from Xiaomi devices directly to Apple devices more seamlessly. However, the rollout appears to be limited at the first stage, with the Xiaomi 17T Pro shown in Xiaomi’s trailer video as the highlighted supported device.
Xiaomi 17T Pro Appears to Lead the Rollout
The most important detail is that Xiaomi didn’t confirm whether this feature is available on all HyperOS 3 devices or only few models. But the X post also mentions HyperOS 3, so this feature may available on all HyperOS 3 devices. Test and let us know.
This makes the Xiaomi T series important once again. Two years ago, Circle to Search first arrived on the Xiaomi 14T Pro before expanding to more Xiaomi devices. Now, Xiaomi appears to be using the Xiaomi 17T Pro as another early platform for a major feature. That shows that the T series is becoming one of the Xiaomi’s fastest lines for new feature experiences.
How AirDrop Support Works on Xiaomi Devices
Xiaomi devices could transfer files via Xiaomi Interconnectivity app installed on both devices Xiaomi and Apple. And now, Xiaomi users can use Quick Share to send photos and files to Apple devices including Mac without needing Xiaomi app installed on the iPhone or iPad. The feature works through pre-installed Google Play Services’ Quick Share system. So, users don’t need a big system update to got this feature. On iPhone, AirDrop needs to be set to Everyone for 10 Minutes so the Android can see it to select for transfer.
