Xiaomi’s long-rumored China strategy for the Xiaomi 17T series is now looking increasingly real. New reports from China suggest that Xiaomi has certified domestic variants of both the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro ahead of their official May 28 global launch. This is a major shift for Xiaomi’s T-series lineup, which has historically remained focused on international markets only. Interestingly, XimiTime previously reported that Xiaomi was internally developing Chinese variants of the “chagall” and “warhol” devices months before these new certifications surfaced.
Xiaomi finally bring the T-series to China
For years, Xiaomi’s T-series smartphones were positioned primarily for Europe and global markets. Devices like the Xiaomi 14T Pro and earlier T-series models never officially entered China despite sharing hardware similarities with domestic REDMI flagships. That strategy now appears to be changing.
According to new leaks shared by Digital Chat Station and multiple Chinese certification findings, Xiaomi is preparing dedicated China versions of the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro. Even more interestingly, Xiaomi may slightly adjust the specifications between the global and Chinese variants.
At XimiTime, we previously revealed that the codename pair “chagall” and “warhol” were both receiving active China ROM development internally. At the time, the information seemed unusual because the T-series had always been globally focused. Now, the latest certifications strongly suggest Xiaomi truly plans to test the T-series in the Chinese market for the first time in years.
Honestly, even we were surprised to see the leaks becoming reality.

Why this matters for Xiaomi
If Xiaomi officially launches the Xiaomi 17T series in China, this would become one of the biggest strategic changes for the T-series lineup since its creation.
The company may be trying to create a new premium segment between traditional Xiaomi numbered flagships and REDMI performance devices. China’s smartphone market is extremely competitive, so launching the T-series domestically would indicate strong confidence from Xiaomi.
The move could also help Xiaomi unify its global and domestic product portfolio more efficiently under the Xiaomi HyperOS ecosystem.
Xiaomi’s strategy moving forward
Xiaomi continues expanding its ecosystem strategy around Xiaomi HyperOS, Leica imaging, AI optimization, and deeper Xiaomi HyperConnect integration. The Xiaomi 17T series appears to represent a major part of this broader 2026 flagship strategy.
