Xiaomi 17T series set for official May 28 debut globally

The launch timeline for Xiaomi’s next premium T-series phones have just been revealed. According to newly surfaced information, Xiaomi is currently expected to officially unveil the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro globally on May 28. The launch would replace the current Xiaomi 15T lineup and mark one of Xiaomi’s earliest T-series releases in recent years. The timing also matches the recently leaked official renders that showcased the devices’ updated Leica-inspired rear camera design and flagship-focused hardware upgrades.

Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro specifications

The Xiaomi 17T is rumored to feature a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone is expected to use the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset alongside 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.1 storage.

Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17T Pro could deliver a much more premium experience with a 6.83-inch OLED panel running at 144Hz and powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor. Xiaomi also equip the Pro model with a massive 7,000mAh battery alongside 100W wired and 50W wireless charging support.

Both models are expected to heavily focus on photography. Leaks suggest Leica-branded camera tuning, a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, a 12MP ultrawide sensor, and a 32MP front camera. The standard Xiaomi 17T use the 50MP Light Fusion 800 main camera, while the Xiaomi 17T Pro could feature the newer 50MP Light Fusion 950 sensor.

Pricing may reach flagship territory

The leaked pricing positions the Xiaomi 17T series firmly in flagship territory. Current information suggests the Xiaomi 17T could start at €749 (~$878), while the Xiaomi 17T Pro may launch at €999 (~$1,170) depending on region and taxes.

China ROM support leak first discovered

One unexpected detail discovered by XimiTime.com is the presence of Chinese ROM support for the Xiaomi 17T series inside Xiaomi’s internal software references. Current Mi Code findings suggest that the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro may not be limited to global markets only.

This is particularly interesting because Xiaomi’s T-series devices are traditionally designed for international markets rather than China. While this does not fully confirm a China launch yet, it shows that Xiaomi is internally preparing Chinese software support for the devices.

XimiTime will continue monitoring the Xiaomi 17T series firmware and Mi Code after release to determine whether Xiaomi is planning a broader release strategy for the lineup.

If the May 28 launch date proves accurate, Xiaomi could begin teasers and official marketing campaigns very soon. The company appears to be positioning the Xiaomi 17T series as one of its most ambitious global T-series generations yet, combining flagship cameras, huge batteries, and premium displays into a more aggressive package than previous models.
