Xiaomi Unveils REDMI Buds 8: 50dB ANC and LHDC 5.0 Audio for Just $31

Today, Xiaomi officially expanded its audio portfolio with the release of the new REDMI Buds 8. Launching exclusively in China for now at an aggressive price point of 229 CNY (approximately $31.50 USD), these wireless earbuds bring premium features like high-depth Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and high-resolution audio codecs to the budget segment. The earbuds are available in three distinct colorways: Lime White, Cyan, and Dusk Black.

Technical Specifications & Features

The REDMI Buds 8 are engineered to punch well above their weight class, focusing on high-fidelity audio and robust noise isolation:

  • Audio Drivers & Codecs: The earbuds feature an 11mm high-performance dynamic driver unit utilizing a multi-layer composite diaphragm. Notably for this price bracket, they support the LHDC 5.0 codec alongside standard SBC and AAC, earning them the Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification with a frequency response range of 20Hz to 40kHz.

  • Advanced ANC: Xiaomi has integrated a “Deep Space” noise reduction system capable of a maximum depth of 50dB (averaging 24.9dB) with an effective noise reduction width of 4kHz. This is driven by a 3-tier adaptive intelligent noise-cancellation algorithm.

  • Call Quality: The system utilizes Xiaomi’s self-developed 3-microphone AI call noise reduction algorithm, which can effectively filter out wind noise at speeds up to 12m/s.

  • Design & Battery: Maintaining an ergonomic, lightweight profile, each earbud weighs just 5.0g. They boast an impressive 11 hours of standalone battery life (with ANC off and AAC encoding) and up to 44 hours of total playback with the 475mAh upright charging case. A quick 10-minute charge yields 4 hours of listening time. The case also features a new “Cloud Gap Light Effect 2.0” for immediate battery status visibility.

  • Ecosystem Integration: The REDMI Buds 8 fully support Xiaomi HyperConnect, enabling seamless cross-device functionality such as intelligent audio routing, device finding, and notification broadcasting.

Market Impact

At roughly $31.50 USD, the REDMI Buds 8 aggressively undercut the competition by offering LHDC 5.0 and 50dB ANC—features traditionally reserved for the $100+ premium tier. For users already invested in the Xiaomi hardware ecosystem, this represents a highly cost-effective audio upgrade that doesn’t compromise on smart features or battery endurance.
