New Xiaomi Watch 5 Beta Expands Super Island Display and Adds Features

Xiaomi has started a beta test for a new software update on the Xiaomi Watch 5. The update introduces practical improvements such as expanding the Super Island display capabilities, adding a screenshot function on the watch, and a new game mode. The company plans to invite 500 users to join this “Pioneer Experience Program.”

The Xiaomi Watch 5 originally launched in December last year, priced at 1,999 CNY (about $280) for the standard version and 2,299 CNY (approximately $320) for the eSIM model. It features a 1.54-inch AMOLED display with 1,500 nits brightness and ultra-narrow 2.6mm bezels, protected by dual-sided artificial sapphire glass and housed in an integrated stainless steel case. The watch supports multiple strap options, including leather and 3D-printed titanium.

Powered by a dual-chip system, the device runs on the Snapdragon W5 Wear processor (4nm, quad-core Cortex-A53) alongside a low-power BES2800 chip. This setup enables standalone operation of apps like Alipay and map navigation. Battery life reaches up to six days in performance mode and 18 days in power-saving mode.

Interested users can apply for the beta version through Xiaomi’s recruitment link. The update currently targets Xiaomi Watch 5 owners and aims to enhance the overall user experience by adding new interaction features and usability improvements.
