Xiaomi has started selling its Xiaomi Smart Camera 5 Pro Night ColorVision model in China. The camera went on sale at 10:00 AM on October 12, priced at 499 yuan (about $70) with an introductory offer of 439 yuan (around $62).
Hardware and Imaging Capabilities
The camera features a dual-lens system with an 8MP main sensor and a 4MP secondary sensor, capable of capturing 4K high-definition video. It supports multiple night vision modes, including full-color night imaging. A built-in small night light offers supplementary illumination, enabling the camera to record colored video throughout the night.
When no motion is detected, the camera switches to black-and-white mode to save power. Upon detecting human movement, the small night light automatically activates, and the camera switches to color mode. It also includes a 940nm infrared light source that does not cause red glare, resulting in clear black-and-white nighttime images.
Smart Features and AI Integration
The device incorporates a gimbal mechanism, allowing remote pan and tilt control for wide coverage. It supports AI-based human and pet tracking to follow and record movements dynamically. Gesture recognition enables hands-free control, with an “OK” hand gesture in front of the camera initiating a remote call to the user’s smartphone.
Two-way voice communication is supported via the app, allowing calls from the phone to the camera and vice versa.
Powered by a 1.5T high-performance computing chip, the camera handles advanced scene detection with greater accuracy and intelligence. Local AI monitoring records and alerts users to specific events in real time, enabling instant review of AI-flagged home security incidents.
The Xiaomi Smart Camera 5 Pro Night ColorVision model offers a promising combination of night-time full-color imaging and smart AI features designed for home surveillance. For firmware updates and AI feature management, users may rely on Xiaomi’s official support channels.
