Xiaomi’s 18 Fold middle foldable smartphone recorded a strong first-day sales performance. According to digital industry insider @RD观测, about 36,000 units were sold on September 10, the day it officially launched for retail.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold was announced on September 7 with starting prices at 10,999 yuan (about $1,500). The flagship model with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage starts at 14,999 yuan (about $2,050), while the 16GB+1TB ceramic special edition is priced at 15,999 yuan (around $2,190).
Before the sale, Xiaomi Group Vice President and CMO Xu Fei stated on September 8 that the 18 Fold was selling very well. Supporting this, Xiaomi China President and Senior Vice President Wang Xiaoyan shared sales data showing the 18 Fold achieved a 310% increase over the previous generation’s foldable model in the same price segment. This marks a significant rise for Xiaomi’s foldable flagship series.
For users tracking the Xiaomi 18 Fold update and software support, the device runs Xiaomi HyperOS and delivers a high-end foldable experience. Details about software updates and support can be monitored through tools such as the MemeOS Enhancer app for HyperOS updates.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold’s first-day sell-out volume indicates a solid market demand for foldable devices in the premium segment, especially in China where it is only available.
