Xiaomi to showcase record-setting SU7 Ultra and Vision GT concept at IFA

Xiaomi Auto has announced that it will showcase the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo concept alongside the SU7 Ultra and SU7 Max electric vehicles at IFA 2026. The event runs from September 4 to 8 at Messe Berlin, where Xiaomi will be positioned at stand H6.2-101 in Hall 6.2.

Vision Gran Turismo Concept: A Design Showcase, Not for Sale

The Vision Gran Turismo marks Xiaomi as the first Chinese brand and first technology company to join Polyphony Digital’s Vision GT program, which began in 2013. This concept car was first revealed as a full-scale model at MWC 2026 in Barcelona. It features an impressive 1,900 horsepower setup with a 900-volt silicon carbide electrical architecture.

The design emphasizes aerodynamics, with a drag coefficient of 0.29 and a downforce-to-drag ratio of 4.1 to 1, placing it in Le Mans Hypercar territory. Xiaomi calls the design language “Sculpted by the Wind,” with cross-shaped headlights as air ducts, a halo taillight that vents air, and an underfloor feeding the rear diffuser. While the vehicle will be drivable in Gran Turismo 7, Xiaomi confirmed it is a concept only and will not enter production.

SU7 Ultra: Record-Breaking Performance with Xiaomi’s Own Motors

The SU7 Ultra is Xiaomi’s high-performance electric SUV, highlighting the company’s engineering strides. It uses three in-house developed electric motors: a 288 kW V6 on the front axle and two 425 kW V8 motors at the rear, combining for 1,138 kW, or 1,548 PS. The rear V8 motors reach up to 27,200 rpm, a figure indicating custom motor design rather than the use of off-the-shelf units.

The SU7 Ultra accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.98 seconds. It carries a 93.7 kWh CATL Qilin 2.0 battery pack with an official range of 620 km under China’s CLTC cycle. The vehicle weighs 2,360 kg and uses 430 mm carbon ceramic front brake discs.

In April 2025, the SU7 Ultra set a new lap record for electric executive cars at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, completing the circuit in 7 minutes and 4.957 seconds. The SUV sells in China for 529,900 yuan.

SU7 Max: The Volume Model with Long Range

The SU7 Max forms the volume sales base for Xiaomi’s electric car efforts. Introduced as part of the SU7’s second generation in March 2026, the Max variant features 508 kW power output paired with a larger 101.7 kWh ternary lithium battery. It claims a range of 835 km under the CLTC standard, though this is expected to be lower under Europe’s WLTP measurements. The SU7 Max retails at 303,900 yuan in China.

Early European Testing and Upcoming 2027 Launch

Since March 2026, Xiaomi has been testing the SU7 and the YU7 GT models across France, Poland, and the Netherlands. The YU7 GT reportedly carries a 288 kW front motor and a 450 kW rear motor with a top speed of 300 km/h. Both models are available in China currently, with Xiaomi targeting a global rollout starting in 2027.

The company has already set up a research center in Munich and registered a road-legal SU7 Ultra in Europe in July 2025 as prelude to the planned European launch. However, these models have not been announced for markets like Kenya, where EV adoption remains low and taxes on EVs recently increased with the Finance Bill 2026.

IFA Debut Reflects Xiaomi’s Broader AI and EV Strategy

This will be Xiaomi’s first time exhibiting at IFA Berlin, coinciding with Samsung’s exit from the event after 35 years. Xiaomi’s parent company plans to invest €7.4 billion into AI research between 2026 and 2028. The IFA showcase signals Xiaomi’s transition from technology devices to a connected mobility and AI ecosystem.

While the Vision Gran Turismo remains an aspirational concept, the SU7 Ultra and SU7 Max demonstrate Xiaomi’s engineering and production capability. The brand aims to introduce these models in Europe as left-hand drive vehicles from 2027 onwards.
